Hi I'm Stephanie

I'm a biology grad student. I just married Mr. Perfect-for-me. My passions are wildlife, music, and traveling. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a graduate student in the Biological Science Education MS program at Brigham Young University. I conduct research in teaching methods and teach undergraduate introductory biology, besides taking my own classes. I love teaching and doing my research; they fulfill life-long goals and desires. I recently was married to my wonderful husband in the temple. This event also fulfills a life-long goal and desire and brings me great joy and happiness. I love the outdoors and often go hiking, biking, rafting, and snowboarding. With a BS in Wildlife Biology, animals hold a special place in my heart. I grew up in a musical family and love to sing and listen to movie soundtracks. Another passion is traveling, and I have already added Alaska, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Tonga, Samoa, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico to my list of exotic places. Different cultures fascinate me, as well as the people who live them.

Why I am a Mormon

To me, one of the greatest daily benefits I receive from being a Mormon is peace in my life. This comes as I keep the commandments, improve my relationship with the Lord, and strive to do His will. The source of peace is the Holy Ghost (or Spirit), which Christ called "the second comforter" when He was here on the earth. The presence of the Spirit in my life, from righteous living, brings the most wonderful feeling in the world: peace. It is this peace that helps me choose every day to be a member of this church. I was born into this church, meaning that my parents were members and raised me in the gospel. There has never been a time when I have doubted its truth. But I am a Mormon not because my parents raised me to be, but because I have lived by the teachings of our church and know for myself that it is true, as the Spirit has testified to me of its truthfulness through the peace that I feel. It is the best feeling in the world. Come and see for yourself.

How I live my faith

Right now I am in charge of making sure all the women that live near me get visited by assigned women in the ward and have their needs met. This is a wonderful way that women and lift and strengthen each other, and I make sure that it happens. If a particular woman is not visited, then I go and see to her needs. This can be as simple as sharing with her my testimony and building her faith, or more involved as bringing her family dinner or helping her do house work. If there are any major needs or situations, I let my leaders know so that the woman and her family can be better helped. An important part of our religion is service and reaching out to those in need, imparting of one's time, talents, and resources to lift others. I am grateful to be called to this work.
