Hi I'm Emily Anne

I'm going on a mission to Argentina, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I love running and playing sports. I play the piano, harp, guitar, and ukulele. I have three older brothers and no sisters, so I am definitely a tom boy! I am going to college to get my master's degree in olympian exercise physiology, and I love people!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a mormon, my entire family is mormon and that was all I had ever known until I went to college. With all of the pressures and stresses at college, I decided to no longer be a mormon and explore other faiths. I tried every faith I could find, and though some were fun, they didn't feel right. I was having a hard time finding friends that weren't mormon that had the same standards as me, and I became very confused, depressed, and alone. Then one day I was talking with a mormon boy when he said to me that I can't expect to find friends with mormon standards, if I am not living like a mormon. That is the moment that changed my life. I decided right then and there to turn my life around, but it wasn't easy. There were habits that I had picked up that I thought I would never be able to break. But with faith in and help from God, I was able to return to the light. The hardest part for me though was repenting. Receiving forgiveness is not the part that I struggled with, it was more so allowing myself to receive forgiveness and forgiving myself. But the moment when I let his redeeming light back into my life, where I truly felt that forgiveness is the happiest moment of my life. I can't describe the peace and happiness that this gospel has brought to me, and my only hope is that you will someday be able to feel the happiness that this gospel has brought me. I am now preparing to become a missionary for the church in Argentina to share the gospel with the people and to bring the world his truth. Because It is HIS truth.

How I live my faith

I live my faith the best I can by constantly trying to do a little better, to improve myself in God's eyes. I try to do little things constantly, like serving those around me, praying, and being a good example. Though three hours of church may seem like a long time when you're first starting off, it is the highlight of my week every week and gives me the strength to hold to our standards for the rest of our week.

What is the First Vision?

Emily Anne
When Jesus Christ died for our sins, he left behind his church and his gospel, but as time went by the pure truth of the gospel became corrupt, and The Lord took his preisthood power away from the earth. So when a young man named Joseph Smith began exploring churches looking for the truth, he couldn't find anything that put is mind at rest. That was when he read in the Bible "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him" (James 1:5) So young Joseph went into the woods to do just that. To pray. As he knelt and began praying to know which of the churches was true, he was overcome by a darkness. And just as he was about to abandon all hope, a pillar of light, brighter than the sun came upon him. And in the light he saw two men and one spoke calling Joseph by name, and said "This is my beloved son. Hear Him." The Father and the Son then told Joseph that he was to join none of the churches, but to restore the original truth to the earth. And that is exactly what he would do. Show more Show less
