Hi I'm Jack Tingey

I've lived in three different countries. I love history. I'm in to genealogy work. I am serving a mission in Canada. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Ever since I was young, I have had the influence of the Church and its teachings in my life. I grew up in a family that appreciated strong reliance on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I became interested in world and US history early in my life. Since then, I have come to learn a lot about the world, and have had the opportunity of travelling to many different countries. From my time serving a mission in Eastern Canada, I have learned and come to love the French language, albeit with a strong dialect. I like sci-fi TV shows, reading big books with no pictures, Cheez-Its, Church history, and racquetball.

Why I am a Mormon

I became a Mormon when I was baptized at eight years old. I stayed a Mormon one evening in our missionary apartment in Montreal, Canada. After struggling with a spiritual battle inside of me, I poured my heart out to God. I felt my guilt and sadness swept away, and I was reborn from the inside out. From then on, I determined to always repent and rely on the Lord, and that I will stay a Mormon in spite of men and devils.

How I live my faith

Love is the first great commandment. I live my faith by doing to my best to help and support those around me. My mission has been an incredible opportunity to serve others with love and kindness. Being obedient to the commandments of God becomes much easier when we understand why we do it, to show our love for God and our willingness to try our best and rely on our Savior.

Who is the Mormon prophet today?

The leaders of the Church are called of God and hold sacred authority to lead and guide God's people. We sustain our leaders, in spite of their weaknesses, to receive revelation for us. They are God's representatives on Earth. Our history is full of stories of hard hearts and dissension against the Lord's servants. We must cease all such murmuring, for if we do not, we are not on the side of God. Support your local leaders, whatever your personal feelings for them may be, and help them make their calling easier and filled with the joy of service. Show more Show less
