Hi I'm Kaitlyn

I'm a Canadian farm girl going to university in America. My family is the greatest. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Being raised on a farm in Southern Alberta, Canada, I learned the value of hard work (though I didn't appreciate it at the time) while spending time with family as I helped out. I have four sisters, one brother, and fabulous parents who I can’t imagine my life without. We all love being outside, especially in our favourite national park. I have always been the comedian in the family. Making people laugh, particularly my siblings, has always come naturally to me. One of the best feelings is bringing a smile to someone's face. Music is one of my great loves. It may be said that I sing more than I talk. I began playing the piano at five and have never stopped since. I moved away from home after high school to Utah attend university. I am currently working on my bachelors' degree in Communication Disorders, after which I will pursue a Masters' in Speech-Language Pathology. After graduation I plan on working in a school, helping children learn how to communicate better so that they don't feel embarrassed or frustrated. I hopped the pond to London last summer, where I met some of my best friends and created the best memories. While there I served in a ward full of amazing people. Seeing the church on a global scale instilled in me a greater desire to share the gospel and my simple testimony. I am currently serving in the Colorado Denver South Mission. I couldn't more be more happy to share what I know is true and help others come unto Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

Every day I have choices to make. Choices that are mine. Choices that will affect me, my future, my family, my friends, people I don't even know. That could be scary and overwhelming. But it isn't for me. Because I know who I am, where I came from and where I am going (or at least a general direction), I have faith in the future. I know that when I turn to my Saviour and Redeemer, He is there waiting to help me. Whether it be by blessing me with what I ask for or helping me "learn" an important lesson, He knows what I need and He is waiting. "Ask and it shall be given. Knock and ye shall receive." I know that my Heavenly Father lives and loves me. I know that Jesus Christ atoned for my sins and because of that, I can return to live with Him and my family forever if I keep the commandments and try to be like His example.

How I live my faith

In my student ward I served as the ward choir director. I picked hymn arrangements and have practice every Sunday for my ward members to come and sing. The best part is how many people come and sing simply because they want to. We are all able to have a great time because we don't take ourselves too seriously and we genuinely want to sing in a way that will invite others to come unto Christ. Through visiting teaching I have made some of my best friends. I have truly been able to see how the Lord uses His children to bless others. Living my faith is about more than just going to Church and serving in my calling. It is about trying to be like Christ in everything I do. It's about turning to Him when I make mistakes or feel discouraged. It's about living everyday as an example of my Redeemer.
