Hi I'm McKenna

Serving a mission in Nagoya, Japan May 2013- November 2014.

About Me

I've lived my whole life in Utah Valley and I love it! I went to cosmetology school and I am a licensed hair stylist. I love helping others feel pretty and good about themselves. I am currently attending Brigham Young University and studying family and consumer sciences. I have been called to serve a mission in Nagoya Japan from May 2013- November 2014. I am very excited to serve the Japanese people. I have a loving and close family and I can't wait to have a family of my own someday. I love the gospel, writing, cooking, dancing, being with my friends, being a hairstylist, and being with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church. I am so extremely grateful that I was born to parents who love the Lord and follow His teachings. It was easy for me to follow their example growing up. I often wonder if I would have been courageous enough to find the church on my own. I hope I would have been. During my teenage years living the gospel became much harder. A lot of my friends from high school were not living the commandments even though they were Mormon too. My previously black and white world suddenly had a LOT of gray area. My resolve slowly started to slip. I knew in my heart what was right it just seemed at the time that worldly things were more important. It was hard for me to see the change in myself but luckily my parents noticed. They helped me realized I had changed but left it to me to decide what to do. I have found that through the atonement of Christ we can be forgiven over and over and over again. He will never give up on us. We don't have to promise that we will never make a mistake again, we only have to promise that we will never give up trying. I will never stop trying to be better. I know that Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost love me and absolutely want what is best for me. Being a Mormon is entirely who I am. I am a child of Heavenly Parents who is striving to be back with Them someday.

How I live my faith

In my student wards at B.Y.U. I have been in charge of organizing activities for the women. I've enjoyed this calling mostly because I love connecting with others. I've gained so many friends from church and church activities I don't know where I'd be without them. When you attend activities in the light of the gospel it is easy to see others how Christ would. I love all the sisters I've met through this calling. Recently, I've been called to serve as a missionary. I've been blessed with the knowledge that this is exactly what my Heavenly Father wants me to do right now. I will be teaching the gospel to the people of Nagoya, Japan. I've lived my whole life in Utah so this will be an entirely new and honestly slightly scary adventure. However, I know if I rely on the Lord He will help me through all my trials as I commit to serve Him. I love the gospel and I am so excited to see what the Lord has in store for me.
