Hi I'm Susan Fairhurst

I am from Montana. I am a retired social worker. I love spending time with my grandchildren. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I obtained my college education as a non-traditional student while raising my seven children. I have always been grateful for that opportunity. My husband was military and we are a strongly patriotic family. I love to travel. I especially enjoy beautiful mountains. I also enjoy gardening. Each year we plant a salsa garden. Then we make quarts of salsa to share with friends and family. I also enjoy writing and telling short stories for my grandchildren. Together we have created a series called "The Adventures of the Peacock Kids: Featuring the Power Cousins". Most of all I love to spend time with our family which includes our 25 grandchildren.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents joined the church when I was a small child. I have always loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I am so grateful for the clarity it brings into my life. The truths we hold have helped me to raise my children in what can be a confusing world. The principles of the Gospel have strengthened my marriage, made me a better neighbor and helped me make difficult decisions in my career. Though I have had hardships and challenges in my life, the church has provided for me a rock solid foundation. Despite the difficulties I may face, I find I have an overriding sense of joy and purpose.

How I live my faith

I have been truly blessed with many different opportunities for service in our church. This includes teaching young children, teenagers and adults. I especially love teaching in our women's auxiliary. I am always inspired as we share thoughts and experiences. I have also been able to serve as a family history consultant. Helping others connect to their ancestors is so rewarding. I have helped with scouting and other youth activities through the years. I have found each opportunity to be a wonderful experience. As I have worked and volunteered in our community, I have been able to share the skills I have gained. Through the years our home has been a gathering place for many. As we have raised our children according to the principles of the Gospel, their friends and ours have been drawn to our home.
