Hi I'm Em

I think everyday should be an adventure. I love the color yellow, jumping in puddles, and Spiderman. And I'm a Mormon!

About Me

Hi! My name is Emily. Feel free to call me "Em". (Actually, I prefer it. I'm only ever called Emily when I'm in trouble!) I love to bake- my specialty is brownies. I just recently graduated from college where I studied Hospitality and Tourism Management. I hope to one day be an Event Planner- I can't live a day without a "to do" list! I try to stay happy and I love to make others laugh, because between you and me I can't go a day without laughing!

Why I am a Mormon

I haven't always been this happy. I spent a large portion of my life being negative and unhappy. Even though I am a convert, I have spent much of my life as a member so it was much easier to take it for granted. I didn't really devote as much time as I should have to the church. I spent some time in foster care, before being permanently placed with my grandmother. I always felt alone, and like no one understood, but when I started college, it got worse. The friends I had, the family that I was used to was gone, and suddenly I was on my own. On top of feeling alone all the time, college was actually really hard for me, and I lost 3 people that I loved- all in the space of a year. I was down all the time and I really didn't know how to turn myself around. It wasn't until my senior year of college that I really started to rely on my Father in Heaven and my Savior. I began praying regularly and reading my scriptures daily. I got my patriarchal blessing. For the first time in a long time, I began to feel genuinely happy. I started being a better person to the people around me, and I started feeling like I was somebody. It was a big deal to me. I didn't feel alone anymore, and I felt like I meant something to someone. All the pain that I had felt and hid all those years was gone. I was happy. That, my friends, is a wonderful blessing.

How I live my faith

Currently, I am serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I am serving in the Utah Salt Lake City South Mission, and I absolutely love it. I am bringing souls to Christ, by helping them understand their importance to the Lord- and in so doing, helping them enter the waters of baptism. I love serving the Lord. I promise you that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ know you. They know your struggles, and they know your pains. Jesus died for you (yes, you!) and He did it with love. They love you and they want to help you, all you have to do is ask. Being alone is hard, but lucky for us we don't have to be. Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are right there, ready to help. I know that God lives. I know that Jesus is the Christ. I know that Jesus died for me. I want to live my life in a way that shows how grateful I am for this gospel and how blessed I feel to know that there is a plan for me. I am so happy for the chance I have to share this little part of me with you.
