Hi I'm Mereteba Manuera

l grew up in Kiribati. l like the Ocean and my favorite food is Fish, rice. l am serving in Temple Square and l am a mormon.

About Me

My name is Mereteba. l am the oldest for five siblings, 3 sisters and 2 brothers. l was raise and born in a beautiful island called Kiribati. l really like to play netball and hanging out with my close friend by having a picnic near the ocean.

Why I am a Mormon

l was Jehovah's Witness before with my family and we all have a strong testimony in that Church but later on my sister the second one got married with one of the mormon guy. He was a Return Missionary and he invited missionary to come over to our house to meet my sister to teach her about the Gospel. ln that time we all just started to meet the missionaries from that Church and l didn't really like that Church before. When they visited my sister, they always invited me to joined them but at the first time l didn't accept it. One day it came to my mind that l should go and just listened to their belief but not going to their Church, Once l joined the lesson and l open up to asked a lot of question about Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon. At the first time when l listened about what missionaries were saying l didn't feel that the things that they were sharing is true or not. They realized my concern and they asked me to prayed about it, and because of my desire to know if it true or not l always pray every night. One night l had a dream about the Book of Mormon. " The area that l lived on it, the war came over there and all the people were trying to saved their lives and l was really sacred and l didn't know what l should do but l just trying to hide myself and one of the Elder came there and brought the Book of Mormon and called the little boy to take it and bring it to me. This little boy took it and run straight to me and he gave me the Book of Mormon. He called my name and said that l should take it, when l turned back to see what he will give me and l saw that it was the Book of Mormon." l asked him why he wanna to give it to me and he told me that once l take it, it will save my life that how the Elder want me to feel that way, once l took it and the sacred with me in that time is gone and l asked missionaries when they came the next time that l wanna to be baptized because l know that the things that they shared with me is true.

How I live my faith

l didn't really have a calling in my ward when l started to joined the Church but my sister had a calling. She is a teacher for the primary kids and sometimes l stayed with her when she was teaching them. When l was with her and l felt so interested to teach the primary kids and sometimes l shared something with them. They all listened to me when l talked and l felt that they were interested to hear my story. When l saw that way how the kids were listening carefully to what l was saying, my sister told me if l can be with her every Sunday school to teach them, l felt the she gave me my calling and l haven't set apart yet. My sister in that time got pregnant and she on her way to born her child, sometimes she missed attend the church because she didn't feeling well because of that, and l am the one take over the lesson with the primary kids. Later on l felt that l wanna to set apart in order to be a real teacher for them. My Bishop confirmed to me that l will be a teacher of the primary kids and l am so excited, then l became to be a first councilor and then l am a President. Teaching the primary kids about the Gospel of Jesus Christ help me to increased my Faith in my Savior Jesus Christ and preparing me to go on a mission. l am now serving the Lord in Temple Square mission, but for a portion of my mission I was blessed to be able to serve in the Reno Nevada mission.
