Hi I'm Royce

I'm from a small town in Kansas. I'm a violinist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been playing violin for 10 years. I have studied with teachers across the nation from institutions such as Cleveland Institute of Music, Julliard and Oberlin Conservatory. I have also studied in Vienna, Austria. Violin has always been a huge part of my life and I am forever indebted to the many wonderful people who supported me. My family includes my one sister, my mother and my father and step-mother. I enjoy hiking, knitting (a new hobby), and piano.

Why I am a Mormon

I sought for the truth for several years before I was baptized in 2011. At the time I was studying Catholicism. Paul taught: “And he agave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;” This set the stage for my conversion. My high school french teacher introduced me to the Church. While I was in Italy I finally started reading the Book of Mormon. The most peaceful and warm feeling came over me and I could not deny what I read to be true. I got on my knees and prayed and I received my answer. The gift of the Gospel has given me greater joy than any experience that I have ever had in my life. It is hard for me to describe the feelings I get inside through study and obedience to the Gospel. The Gospel has changed my life. I have come to an understanding of my purpose on this earth, the meaning of why I am here, my potential as a son of God, where I will go after this life. I have come to know that there is a living modern prophet upon the earth today; there are Apostles, and Seventies. Christ’s Church has been restored to the earth in the same exact way he established his kingdom among the Jews. More than anything, I have come to know that Jesus Christ truly lived on this earth, he truly performed miraculous miracles, and he loves me more than I can imagine. I may not fully comprehend the pain He experienced during the Atonement but I have a testimony that Christ fully comprehends the pain and sorrows that I experience. No longer do I just believe this, for I know this.

How I live my faith

I am a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. While in school, I actively participated in the leadership team of Campus Crusade for Christ and Fellowship of Catholic University Students. Both organizations are wonderful in breaking many social barriers students and creating foundations of faith where College can easily deter one's faith. Through both organizations I have been actively involved in community service for the poor and needy in Denver as well as in surrounding areas. I believe there is such amazing potential for students in colleges where there are service-oriented christian-based organizations.
