Hi I'm Lauren

I am a United States diplomat's wife. I build gospel diplomacy by living my faith. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to create things. I like to write, photograph, cook, sew and draw, but being the mother of three I really have to manage my time well to do so. I went to school at Brigham Young University and loved it! It was great to be surrounded by others of my faith who were seeking to do good things while building their educations. I loved that once in a life time experience and took my time enriching myself. I use my education in art, languages and communications in my church callings and interactions with my family. That is very satisfying. Our home is often moving as a result of my husband's job with the US State Department. He is a diplomat and we get to live in different countries to serve the US embassies abroad. I love getting to live in different countries every few years and experience new thoughts, ways of life and meet new people. It is, obviously, challenging as well, but overall it is worth it. No matter where we are we tend to do the same things. As a family we love getting outdoors and playing! We love rock climbing, camping and biking. We enjoy doing new things specific to the country we live in too. As long as it's outside we are for it!

Why I am a Mormon

There are a lot of things that don't seem to make sense in the world. I've seen extreme poverty, oppression, hard hearts and injustice. I've also seen miracles, joy, light, progress and felt things that have reminded me that regardless of the good and bad choices people make God is still in charge. I haven't encountered another church that focuses on communing with God like the Mormon church. Our relationship with our savior, Jesus Christ, is so important to how we live our lives. When I'm trying to be like him I am a better, happier person. I have felt my savior's love for me. I have felt the Holy Ghost comfort, guide and help me. Conversing spiritually can sound strange if you haven't experienced it, but if you have it seems only natural. The plan of salvation, as taught in our faith, gives clarity to life and gives me perspective. I feel and believe in my individual worth as a daughter of God and I have confidence in that knowledge. Humans are something great! Not enough people know that they are something special, but missionaries, both full time and everyday members, share the sweet message of the gospel that tell of who we are, where we came from and of our potential in the future. This church is not perfect, but it seeks to help people, love people, improve people and then asks them to share that goodness. That is energizing and empowering to me.

How I live my faith

I live my faith with faith and service. As a mother and a nomad I find my life is ever changing. Life can feel isolating, strange and chaotic. The gospel brings clarity and reminds me to look outside myself. Service, charity, is the pure love of Christ and when we do so we find our spirits are lifted, others are happier and provided for. We see God's love for us as his individual children when we work to be tools in his hands. I try to be cheerful, outgoing and friendly so that I can make friends quickly each place I move to. I only have two years, so I must act fast! I can help people, love people and make a difference if I have the mentality to serve each day.
