Hi I'm Mackenzie

I'm a native of the Sunshine State, I'm a student of biology and philosophy, an aspiring physician, and a Mormon.

About Me

I have always identified myself with being a student. The love of learning new things informs just about every part of my life. I loved being a student at Brigham Young University, and the opportunity I had to study philosophy and biology, and I think that combination of interests defines me. It's my dream to go on to medical school and go abroad as a member of Medecins Sans Frontieres (Doctors Without Borders). But right now, that dream is on hold while I pursue my other dream of serving the Lord as a full-time missionary in the Michigan Lansing Mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I know that the Book of Mormon is true. I began to have a real interest in being a Mormon when I began to have serious doubts about the childlike faith that I had developed. In more ways than one, that doubt has payed dividends upon dividends. In my search for meaningful truth, I discovered practical and logical ways to interpret the world, but still nothing that could be termed "truth". That's when I decided to give the faith to which my family converted a try. What I found out was that it made perfect sense and it essentially answered all the arguments that I tried to form against it. I wouldn't say I was converted at that point, though. My real conversion came as I began to search and pray for the truth of the Book of Mormon. As much as I love the solid arguments of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the only thing that allows me to stand as a witness of His truth is my faith that that Book is the truth. There's nothing that can dissuade me from that truth because the Spirit has spoken both to my mind and my heart, as the Lord promised.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to live the way Christ lived. I know that the people I've witnessed doing a good job at following that example have inspired me. I've seen my friends be inspired by my pursuit of Christ, and that's a blessing I know I didn't earn on my own. I also have the opportunity to speak as a representative of Jesus Christ as a full-time missionary, and invite others to come unto Christ. It's a huge goal, and I know I fall short every day, but thankfully, my best will do.
