Hi I'm Ryan

I grew up in Kentucky and Ohio. I enjoy corny jokes and teaching music. I enjoy helping people. And I am a Mormon.

About Me

Well, I am currently serving a mission. I have four parents, a mother and father and two ex-step parents, who I love very much. I really enjoy singing and playing the saxophone and that's why I'm studying to become a music teacher. I was attending a university, but I'll have to wait until after my mission until I can return. I really enjoy listening to all types of music, especially live music. I have one younger brother, and I am the only Mormon in my family. I really enjoy doing goofy things and going on adventures. I'm kind of a nerd and like things like video games and Star Wars. I also love to volunteer and just hang out with friends. Anything that's fun and I can laugh and smile doing, I'm there.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I read the Book of Mormon and prayed to know that it was true. When I did that I felt the Holy Ghost comfort me and help me to know that this was the path that I was looking for. Ever since I was 16 and I started to believe in God, I was trying to find what He wanted me to do. One night, I felt lost and alone, and I just prayed to Him and asked Him to show me where to go. I wanted to know what I needed to do to serve Him and repay Him for all He had done for me, and I wanted to let Him take control of my life with His infinite wisdom, for I knew that He would know better than I how to be happy. A few weeks later a co-worker felt impressed to talk to me and we became fast friends. My friend slowly started to talk to me about religion and I found out she was Mormon. She invited me over to meet her family and I just felt so amazing when I walked into that house. There was a peace and happiness there I had never known. It seemed they had found the way to have the happy family I had always dreamed of. They invited me to church and I was able to see that they weren't the weird "polygamist cult" that everyone said they were. Soon I met the missionaries and about 4 months later I was baptized. It was such a wonderful experience and I love all of the wonderful happiness the gospel has brought me in my life. My family isn't supportive at all but I know that this is right, that this is the true church of Jesus Christ once again established on the earth and that there is a prophet on the earth today. I know this all because I prayed and found out for myself that the Book of Mormon was true and I know that the promise made in that book is true for all who read and pray for themselves.

How I live my faith

I am currently a missionary serving in the states. I used to be a Sunday School teacher, teaching the basics of our beliefs and principles and I was a ward missionary. I really enjoyed the ward missionary calling since I was helped into the church by a friend and the missionaries and that made such a huge impact in my life. So I really enjoyed being able to help bring others that same joy and happiness. Speaking of which, I am experiencing right now and really enjoying it. I really enjoyed life in my branch, we became so close knit and there was a real sense of unity. We were all striving to keep the commandments of God and doing our best each day becoming more and more like Jesus Christ, and following His example. We all supported each other through hard and challenging times and helped each other to learn to turn to our Heavenly Father no matter what the problem was. I was so thankful to have such a wonderful and loving branch.
