Hi I'm Elise Curtis

I was raised in Denver, Colorado. I have a knack for planning events. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to eat. All the time. Sure, I'm in college and on the tightest of budgets, but, as Truett Cathy said, "Food is essential to life, therefore make it good." I wish I could say this means that I love to cook, but I don't. Really, the only thing I love more than eating, is eating with other people. It could be chips and salsa during a game of Phase Ten or a full course meal among friends after a Denver Nuggets basketball game. Whatever the case may be, there had better be food and friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I can't imagine living any other way. Through Jesus Christ and reading The Book of Mormon, I am given an eternal perspective that has helped me through so many trials and stressful times. This gospel offers so many things to those who believe it. I know that my family will be together forever and I can't even begin to describe the comfort that this gives me. I know why I am on earth and what my purpose is. Most importantly, I know that I am a daughter of God and that He loves me. He is so concerned with my daily worries and He helps me because He knows me so well. Sure, it may not always be in the way that I anticipated, but I know without a doubt that my Heavenly Father has my best interest at heart. I know that Jesus Christ lives. Those who don't know this, won't understand the blessing it is to my life because I can't describe it. All I know is that I become more and more grateful of this each and every day. His comfort alone is worth all the sacrifices I make in my life to be worthy to enter the Temple of God. Being able to go to the temple is the main reason I am a Mormon. There, I find the most wonderful peace and comfort. It is the Lord's house and I can feel His presence when I am there. So why am I a Mormon? Because I know my Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ live. And that's really all there is to it.

How I live my faith

In a campus where most of the student body is Mormon, the best way I live my faith at BYU is through all the other students. We raise each other up and inspire one another on a daily basis. All of us are struggling with our own issues, whether it's with school, work, relationships, or our own decisions. There is something really special about living in a place where everyone is rooting for you to succeed.
