Hi I'm Elaura Grant

I grew up in Washington state as the youngest of 6. I'm on a mission right now! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was on a swim team for 17 years, and also did gymnastics for 2 months, softball for 5 years, soccer for a few years as well, and dance for 6. I learned a lot about teamwork, but also about self-discipline and determination. I am the youngest of 6, with the 2 boys right above me- meaning I grew up rough-housing and running around outside. I love to read books. I also love reading the scriptures and seeing how I can use what they teach to make myself better. I love to crochet, and I know how to knit. I love music, and I love to sing- country, alternative, and pop are some of my favorites genres. I'm only 20, but I've been to a few different colleges. I love learning and am thinking about looking into welding, which is entertaining as I have done both accounting and medical field in school.

Why I am a Mormon

I feel good about myself when I am doing what I have been taught, and what I have learned for myself to be true. I like knowing that I am pleasing God- my Heavenly Father. I want to do my best in this life to serve Him by serving others. I've come to know that the LDS (Mormon) church is true by praying with a sincere heart and asking Him if it was. I've prayed to know that Joseph Smith was a Prophet of God, and I received an answer. I know he was, and I know that we have prophets on the earth today that lead us and help us to know what God would have us do. I know that they aren't perfect either, but they are trying just like me to become better each and every day. I know that, because I have read the Book of Mormon and asked sincerely about its truthfulness, it is true. I know that I still have a lot to learn in this life, and a lot more about myself that I can smooth out, but I also know that God loves me and is pleased that I am trying to become more like Him.

How I live my faith

I have played piano since I was little- mainly because my mom had all of us in lessons! I enjoyed being with other people, but the practicing part was not my favorite. Since I have been old enough to have a calling, I have been asked to be the pianist 3 times, the chorister once, and a music coordinator as well. I have definitely learned that I need to practice and pray that I won't be nervous. I hate being in front of large groups, so I've had to grow and become more comfortable with accompanying people as they sing. Service has always been a big part of my family. I've grown up seeing my parents help out with school activities, community events, funerals, weddings and receptions, and church activities. They are amazing examples to me of how to forget yourself and just serve the people you meet. I've also learned that going to the meetings and activities others have planned to show support for your leaders is important, because you are able to meet new people, get to know those you've met better, and you can have a lot of safe fun knowing that you aren't likely to be judged for doing something silly.
