Hi I'm Adam

I've been a mormon all my life. I like to work with computers and to read Sci-fi and fantasy, and I love music.

About Me

I'm married to an amazing wife. She makes me want to become a better person all the time. I come from a large family. I study Information Systems at Brigham Young University. I eventually want to become a polyglot. I speak Spanish and am learning German and Chinese.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the Church or Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. For a great deal of my life I continued in this faith because that is what my family raised me to do and believe. I don't resent that at all, because my parents did their best to raise me and teach me so that I would be able to find happiness in life. My parents' love for me touched me deeply while growing up and gave me motivation to continue in the church. Since I was a teenager, I was always encouraged by my parents and church leaders to seek out the truth of this religion for myself. It's a process that is ongoing and will never end for me. I have spent a long time sincerely praying, carefully thinking, and patiently practicing. As a result of these things, I believe that God has called a prophet and 12 apostles to guide us to find true peace and happiness while living the gospel. I have felt the love of God and of Jesus Christ by listening to their words, and I know that they speak the words of Christ. I have come to know that Jesus Christ died for me and suffered for my sins. I know that through Him I can be forgiven of my sins and continue improving myself as a person. I know that the Book of Mormon is a real book of scripture from the ancient inhabitants of the Americas and that it really is a testament of Jesus Christ. I have grown closer to Christ through reading and applying the principles that are in it.

How I live my faith

My wife and I participate in our ward by going to church each week to worship God and Jesus Christ by learning about them and promising to be more like them in our daily life. In our local congregation we help coordinate service activities like blood drives, cleaning of our church, and every spring we try to round up as many people as we can to help pull weeds, trim hedges and any other big project for people that need help. In our personal life, my wife and I try our best to study both together and individually in the Book of Mormon and the Bible. We strive to invite the spirit in our life by trying to pray meaningfully and consistently. While interacting with people at church, work, or school (for me), we do our best to treat others kindly and friendly as we want to have a positive influence on our peers and the community.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Adam
Yes! Many may think that we don't feel that it isn't as important as the Book of Mormon, but God's words are in both books and we value God's words. There are many wonderful principles that are so clearly taught in the Bible that have enriched my understanding of life and of God and Jesus Christ. It was written by holy men that were servants of God. I know that the Bible is true because of the love of God I have found within its texts and teachings. Show more Show less
