Hi I'm Alaina Nelson

I grew up in a small Idahoan town. My passion is learning. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently serving in the Taiwan, Taipei mission. I absolutely love learning Chinese, and love serving the people in Taiwan. Before my mission, I was a student at a university majoring in English. I love to dance, play the piano, listen to music, and share with others those things that I love. I also worked as a tutor at a local drug elimination program. Nothing gives me more satisfaction that seeing students accomplish things they never dreamed they were capable of and exceed expectations. I also love to read and write. I believe it's important to laugh with others and especially laugh at yourself. I seek out awkward moments because I know that is when I am growing the most.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I saw from a young age how it blessed my life and the life of my family. Now that I'm older, I continue to practice Mormonism faithfully because I know that it is good and true. I've come to know through the Holy Spirit that Joseph Smith truly did see Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, and that he received instruction on how to restore the true church. I know that our Heavenly Father loves us, that He sent His son to die for us, and I know that we are His children. This means that we have divine spirits. Each and every person on this earth is capable of so much good because of the light we came here with. Being a Mormon allows me to have a positive outlook on life even when darkness seems to flood so much of the earth. I am a Mormon because I know in my soul that what is taught in this church is true, and being a Mormon gives me purpose and makes me happy.

How I live my faith

As a missionary, every day I share this gospel. I try to use a language that is completely foreign to me in order to help others come unto Christ. I believe it is important to remind others of the love their Father in Heaven has for them by reaching out and getting to know their interests and goals. My faith changes the way I interact with people; it pushes me to see the good in everyone and the incredible capabilities they have.
