Hi I'm Travi

I am a nerdy teenager that loves batman, movies, and the gospel. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I am a recent high school graduate, class of 2013. In high school I was a member of the school newspaper, and was part of a local theater group. I am a big comic book fan and collect super hero items. I have two brothers and two sisters, and I am the youngest in the family. I will be a full time missionary for the LDS Church in July of 2013.

Why I am a Mormon

I have not always been a really active member of the church. I went to church, but was not really involved in a lot of the activities. This past year in a high school English class we has an assignment that required us to do a report on something happening in Africa. I asked my teacher if I could do a presentation on the humanitarian work my church was doing. She agreed, and when I gave that presentation something inside me really stirred. I had a strong feeling I needed to be more dedicated to the Lord. I knew then I wanted to serve as a full time missionary. When I am having a bad day I can read even a few verses of the Book of Mormon or the Bible and feel the spirit so strong I am happy again. I love the peace as I try hard to live as Jesus would have me live.

How I live my faith

There are not a lot of members of my church at my high school, so I have the chance to get to know a lot of great people outside my faith. I enjoy talking with them about what I believe and how it blesses my life. As I prepare to be a full time missionary, I enjoy doing service in my community. Recently a group of us planted trees for the city where I live. I think the best way for me to live my faith is to try to live like Jesus Christ would have me live. Help others, be kind, be happy.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Travi
As members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints we believe we are to help all people, regardless of their beliefs. If there is a need, and we have the means to help it, we should do that. Our church has donated millions of dollars of humanitarian aide all around the globe. Personally, we should be active members of our community helping to make where we live a great place. Show more Show less

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Travi
Faith is something that grows. First you start with a belief, even if it is a small one. As you pray, study the scriptures you learn more and you get stronger feelings of the truthfulness of things. We can increase our faith in Jesus by reading about his life in the Bible and Book of Mormon, and as we try to live like him. Every little step we take helps us become better. Show more Show less
