Hi I'm Dean

I was born and raised in Cumbria near the Lake District. I became a Mormon in 1995.

About Me

I am a dad. I have six children. One has a condition called Tuberous Sclerosis and another has allergies to all kinds of foods. I have a degree with the Open University and have worked at numerous places including a well known computer retailer and local government. I now work for a renewable energy company. I like computer games and reading. I am learning to scuba dive which has been a lifelong ambition and like to go out walking or paddling on a lake in my Canadian style canoe.

Why I am a Mormon

I was wondering where God was in my life. I believed that God existed but did not know how to get to know him. The story the missionaries told me, as contained in the Book of Mormon, seemed too fantastic to be believed but the feelings I had about the message they told confirmed to me that there was some truth in what was taught. As I followed their teachings I learnt through action that God does communicate to us, through inspiration. By serving in the church I have received, time and again, confirmation that God lives, through inspiration, miracles and, greatest of all, the feelings I receive through the spirit as I follow Gods commandments.

How I live my faith

I attend church weekly where I serve on the branch presidency, so I often have to prepare agendas and ask people to fulfil assignments. I am a priesthood holder so I visit families to teach and encourage them. I often visit families learning the gospel along with the missionaries. My biggest church responsibility is my family. We have a weekly family meeting, and every morning we read a chapter of the Book of Mormon. We all take turns at prayers. Some of the children would say the prayer every time if we let them.
