Hi I'm Melinda

I grew up in Utah. I am a Soldier in the U.S. Army. I am a single mother. I am a student. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I was raised in a broken home. My mom was a single mom and chose her boyfriend over her children. I believed that people could not be trusted. I was in a bad marriage and I felt so worthless that I attempted suicide. I figured out that the church was true when I was 29yrs old. I am a single mom. I love my son. I am a US Soldier that has been to Korea and Iraq. I am a Student. I am a scuba diver. I like extreme sports and crafts. I like scrapbooking and journaling. I love being a mom and I love children. I am stilling learning and growing personally and professionally. I am still healing and loving it.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in Utah around other Mormons. Being raised in a broken home I only saw the hypocrisy of the members around me. I could not trust what members said because not all of them followed those teachings. My life was rocky and I hit rock bottom on several occasions. One time I was invited into a families home that strived to live the gospel in their home and in their hearts. I saw what it looked like in the home to struggle with the trials of life and have the gospel as well. I yearned after that spiritual power that I saw in that family. I started to pray to God asking him if he loved me. All my life I believed that God existed, but I believed that he was a respecter of persons. I know he loved some, but believed that for some reason I did not make that list. God had thrown me away and I would fail if I followed him or if I did not follow him. With blessings, prayers, research and a scared hope I discovered that God did actually love me. That has made all the difference. After a lot of crying in the fetal position, withdrawals into depression, attempting to trust in God while I was feeling terrified to do so, I gained my own personal witness that God loves me and that he wants to be with me if I let him. Now I know that God wants the best for me. I know that the Bible and the Book of Mormon are scriptures God has given so that we can have happiness in an unhappy world. I know that this church is true and that with God I can handle whatever comes my way. I am grateful now for the trials that I have had to go through. I am grateful that now I know that I am a beloved daughter of God. I am grateful for the peace and joy I am able to enjoy and wish for you to find he same peace and joy while you are here on this earth as well. Tons of love from me and from you Heavenly Father above, Melinda

How I live my faith

I research for answers to my questions. When I go through hard times and cant think of what to say in prayers I sing songs to God in my prayers. I am slowly growing in my faith. I slowly incorporate principles of the gospel in my life. I have started to do family prayers regularly and I have started a community Family Home Evening events every Monday where we can talk about the gospel and play some games with each other.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

When I was going through this I thought, "How would I increase my relationship with someone that was here with me?" My answer to my self was: call them, listen to them and just spend more time with them. So I converted that to increasing my relationship with Jesus Christ. To call him I would pray. To listen to him I would pause in my prayers and wait, I would read scriptures and the words of the Prophets. I would spend more time thinking about him during the day and pondering things that I was curious about and that I read in the scriptures. As I worked on gaining a closer relationship with God I slowly felt my bond with him strengthening. So, How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ? Treat it as building a relationship with someone here on earth. Spend time with him and genuinely get to know him better. The more you get to know him the more you will realize how much he loves you. Give him a chance and take the risk for a good relationship. Show more Show less
