Hi I'm Enrico

I'm very outdoorsy. I'm Filipino. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a convert to the Church. I like to play basketball and generally be active: backpacking, any sport, surfing. I also play and watch Dota 2. One day when I have the income and time I'll be hitting the beach to get good at surfing. I've started a career as financial advisor and hope to serve people best as I can.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I asked if I should be one. I didn't care much for Mormons when I wasn't a member, I mostly knew them as a little goofy and occasionally party poopers. I did however end up dating a girl who was Mormon. She eventually got me to come to Church after a long time of me saying no. I wanted nothing to do with the missionaries but after months of dodging them they finally got me down for a lesson. They turned out to be some pretty cool guys and revealing to me that the Church wasn't as strange as I thought it was. After a few months of teaching me, they challenged me to take a day to fast to know if the Book of Mormon was true; and at the end of that fast I should read a scripture they wanted me to read and perform a kneeling prayer and ask "Is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints the true church?" and "Is Joseph Smith a true Prophet". Well I picked a day and decided to enter into a fast. I fasted from 7:00am - 5:30pm. I read the scripture and turned the lights off in my room and knelt beside my bed. I prayed really wanting to know if the church was true, with real intent and desire and faith. I asked the two questions the missionaries wanted me to ask. What happened next was incredible. I struggle to explain it every single time, but I would refer you to Alma 19:6. What happened for King Lamoni happened for me. I have provided the "cliff notes" version of my conversion story, but I really put forward a tremendous amount of faith and prayed offering a truly broken heart and contrite spirit. So this is how I know The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the true church! My life is vastly blessed for my activity. To think about not being a(n) (active) member is to think about not being successful, struggling every day to find ways to be happy, to go about life without the peace in understanding what it's all about, and not being the kind of person that holds love for all whether they want it or not.

How I live my faith

I'm currently called to serve as ward mission leader at my ward. I never served a mission so it's all very interesting to me. The calling is what you make it in a way. What I've made into is going door to door with the missionaries and helping them teach lessons, encouraging member missionary work through programs and lessons, and my favorite part being to help those who are struggling with our Church. I think the most important part to the calling is being a "leader" which is something I struggle with, but have learned plenty about in the time I have been serving. Trust, delegation, and example are the qualities and activities I need to improve upon the most in order to serve our Lord to the best of my ability within this calling.
