Hi I'm Kristi

I enjoy exploring and the outdoors. I love to smile. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a student at a religious university. I love to read and write, which contributes to my love of learning. In addition to my love of knowledge, I love the outdoors. I enjoy hiking, jogging, and enjoying the outdoor air. There are few things more beautiful than the view after a long hike. I like making every day an adventure, no matter how small or simple the day seems to be. There is always a reason to be grateful, and a reason to smile. Even when dark clouds cover, the sun is still there and it is still shining. Many wise people have said that each day is a gift and that is why it is called the present. I firmly agree! Each day is a chance to try a little harder to be a little better.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. My parents have been members their entire lives and I was raised in the church. I learned all the gospel principles at a young age, and tried my best to live them. I stood up for my beliefs in school when I was confronted and life was good. I never doubted the church; I always knew it was true deep down inside. I finished the Book of Mormon the first time while in Elementary school, and I prayed about it just like Moroni 10:3-5 asks. I got this wonderful warm feeling inside and learned that it was the Holy Ghost testifying to me that the Book of Mormon was true. It was a small, simple witness but that was all I needed. My life was hard sometimes, but whenever I felt I would hit rock bottom I never hit the ground hard - the gospel was and is my cushion. The gospel of Jesus Christ is my comfort and my solace. I never felt completely alone because I knew God was there and that He is invested in me. He cares about the things I care about and He is always listening. Sometimes I would collapse on the floor and cry to God about my problems - and I always felt better knowing that God was there and that He was listening. Many times miracles and tender mercies followed that further proved to me that God listened and understood my needs. They did not always come right away but they did come. And they still do. God is still there, He still listens, and He still cares. Elder Jeffrey R. Holland explained this really well: "God is eagerly waiting for the chance to answer your prayers and fulfill your dreams, just as He always has. But He can't if you don't pray, and he can't if you don't dream. In short, he can't if you don't believe." I know God lives, He loves me, He wants to answer my prayers, and He wants to fulfill my dreams. All I have to do is meet Him halfway. And being a Mormon helps me do that. That's why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I once heard a saying that has become my philosophy of how I live my faith: "Live in such a way that those who don't know Christ but know you, will want to know Christ because they know you." I want to share my testimony not only with words, but also by the way I live. Actions speak louder than words for me and I want my actions to be in line with the teachings of Jesus Christ - He is who I want to be like. I am an active participant at church and I love it! I get to visit others, serve in a calling, and branch out to get to know others. My favorite callings or assignments at church were playing piano and being a teacher. But my faith doesn't end at church on Sunday. Each day is an opportunity - a chance to become better and closer to God. I try to live in such a way that my testimony shows - I choose to live high standards because I have knowledge that God does live, and that He hopes for the best in my life. He has placed rules and guidelines in life for me to follow to help me have a wonderful life. I know that those commandments are there for a reason, which makes it easier to be obedient. I am grateful I have my faith and that I have an opportunity to live an amazing life.
