Hi I'm James ジョンソン

I'm in the MTC, going to the Japan, Tokyo mission in June. I love the gospel, anime, lacrosse, and sushi. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm from Southern California. I love rain, herbal tea (peppermint), and smooth jazz. I watch anime (not big into action though, I like slice of life), play videogames, and enjoy cooking delicious meals. My favorite thing to make is Dango (rice balls covered with a sweet sauce made from soy sauce, corn starch, and sugar). I also enjoy making taiyaki and French crepes. I'm currently serving a mission for the church in Tokyo Japan, and I couldn't be enjoying it more. I've always wanted to go to Japan since I was a little kid, and I've always loved the culture. I'm a nerd yes, but surprisingly enough I'm also decent at lacrosse (look it up on youtube, it's serious business.) I'm 5' 4'' so everyone is pretty much taller than me, but that doesn't bother me. I love to write and draw, and think up stories in my mind. Before I left on my mission I worked on a food truck for a year making crepes. I've been to some pretty cool places as a result (paramount studios to name one). I plan to attend BYU after my mission, major in Japanese and become a translator for various Japanese medias. My dream job would be working for Riot games opening a Japanese branch or server in Japan. I also plan to learn both American and Japanese Sign Language, and tenor saxophone while in college. After college I plan to get married, but that is hard to set a date on so I'll see where life and the Lord take me.

Why I am a Mormon

I was fortunate enough to be born to a mother who is an active church member. I was baptized at the age of 8, by my own decision, however I didn't have my own belief in the church until much later. I read the Book of Mormon and prayed about it, and got a feeling in my chest and in my heart that was so incredibly powerful that I knew it was true, and that Joseph Smith translated it by the power of God. Since that time I've come to know the power of prayer, having a few experiences where my prayers were answered in very unexpected ways. Heavenly Father always answers our prayers though He does it in his own time, not ours. I urge everyone to read and thoughtfully pray about the Book of Mormon. Through it, and Jesus Christ, we can improve our lives and really find happiness. I can honestly say, that I am 100% happy with my life and who I am. I have goals for the future, like marriage, a job, a family, but I don't have to worry about making all that happen because I know the Lord has a plan for me, as long as I try to be like Christ, and do everything I can to meet my goals. When I've done everything I can, Heavenly Father will take care of the rest.

How I live my faith

I'm currently serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Tokyo Japan. As of now, I'm still in training in Utah, but I arrive in Tokyo April 25th. I love learning Japanese, even though its difficult, because it's always been a dream of mine. Mission life is a big change, because for 2 years we put our lives on hold to serve the Lord and others.
