Hi I'm Gilbert Lopez

I'm from Texas. I love Dancing. I'd take any opportunity to be outside. And I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am the 5th out 8 kids (Half and Step-Siblings involved). I got into dancing when I was a freshman in High School and have been doing it ever since. I want to be outside all of the time. Hiking, Rock Climbing, and breathing in nature. One of my biggest goals is to hang glide from the top of Angel Falls. I try to have fun and give others good experiences, and it usually works out. And I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was 6 years old, my dad passed away. Being so young I didn't understand exactly what that meant or what had happened to him. As I got older I was just angry that MY dad had to die. I reclused. But my mom, then a single mother of 5 kids, faithfully dragged us kicking and screaming to church every week. Growing up with that example of faith in my mom and the comfort that the knowledge of the Gospel of Jesus Christ brought into her life and in turn, into ours, led me to want that comfort also. But it took time for the desire to lead to action. It wasn't until I was 15 years old that I finally decided to find out for myself if the if the Gospel of Jesus Christ could help me and if it could bring me peace and give me direction for the changes I needed to make. I couldn't expect anyone to convince me it was true, because if someone could do that then it would be just as easy for someone else to convince me it wasn't. No one can know of spiritual truths without prayer. So I went to God in prayer, because He is the only one who could answer me and I know it were right. When I got my answer, I knew it. Ever since then I have been able to understand God's Plan of Happiness for all of us, His Children, and that has given me the most guidance in my life. I have been able to go to a great college and serve as a Full-Time Missionary for the church devoting time and effort to help others find the peace of the Gospel of Jesus Christ that I found.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith each and everyday (and not just because I'm a Full-Time Missionary.) The Gospel of Jesus Christ has brought so much peace into my life that not living it and not having that peace all of the time just doesn't make sense. I have seen the Gospel bless not only my life, but also the people around me as they strive to live it as well. No one's life is perfect of course, but Faith in Jesus Christ allow us to improve the quality of our lives and deal with the problems and challenges we all face. My faith has really taught me how to serve others with an open heart, and it teaches me to open my heart to when others serve me. Working in Gilbert Arizona there was an older woman who owned a farm in the city where I would go at least once a week and help out. We built walkways, pulled trees and bushes, built fences, and cleaned up after those darn goats! But without fail when we would finish she would be so grateful and offer to pay us but we would decline, leave feeling happier and more fulfilled. Faith leads to action, right?
