Hi I'm Lizeth Velarde Perez

I'm from Stockton, California. I'm an open minded and wildly curious individual. And I'm proud to be a "mormon".

About Me

Currently a first generation full time student at UC Davis. I play the piano, enjoy a good game of tetris or sudoku, watch Foreign dramas, read manga, follow up on Marvel and D.C. Univers, and on occation attempt cooking. If made to chose between Star Wars and Star Treck i chose Star Trek. I'm the kind of person who enjoys dancing even if I look completely silly. I run barefoot in the rain untill lightning strikes nearby. I'm curious about everthing there is in this world.

Why I am a Mormon

My father's a convert to the church and my mother grew up partially in the church. Consequently, I've been a member all my life. It could have been incredibly easy to stop being a member at my age, but I didn't. And I don't plan to. In a world full of distrust, lies, and deception, I have found truth in It's purest form within the church. The gosple of Jesus Christ and the plan of salvation is a treasure in my life. I can't pinpoint the exact moment I gained a testimony of the church. I just know its true, just as I know the sun will rise each day. Ever since I was little I wanted to share this treasure with others, and so at age 14 I decided to serve a mission and I'm very grateful for the opportunity to do so.

How I live my faith

I was a primary teacher in church for children ages 8-9. Every once in a while I accompanied the sister missionaries and worked with them in whatever they needed. I make sure to dress modestly, not use inappropriate language, avoid alcoholic beverages, and stay away from coffie. You'll never see me with a tatoo or multiple piercings. I was a missionary in Irvine california and enjoyed every moment serving others and sharing what I know is true. I continue to pray and read the scriptures daily, attend church on Sundays, and worship in the temple often.

What do Mormons believe happens to us after we die? What do Mormons believe about life after death?

Lizeth Velarde Perez
It's a dark and scarry path to think that the end of our life is the end of our existance. We believe that there is more than just this life. We still exists after death. In fact, death is merely an illusion created by a seperation of our "soul" and body. We are still alive. But we no longer have bodies by then. When we "die" our spirits/souls go to a new world where we wait to be reunited with our families and friends. We also wait for the day when our bodies and spirits/souls are perfectly reunited again when christ returns. This is called resurection. When we are ressurected, our bodies will be perfect. If you lost your leg in an accident or were born with any dificiencies, you will have it all back in a perfect form and without those previous deficiencies. In short: it will be awesome. What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

Lizeth Velarde Perez
It is the commandment from God to take care of our bodies. It means to not use any form of tobacco, alcohol, or any illegal drugs for anything other than medical reasons. It is also a commandment to not drink coffee or tea. That's the hard part. The easier part is a reminder to also eat properly and exersize. It's entierly for our healt and benifit. When we demonstrate to God that we are doing our part to take care of our bodies, he will bless us. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about the nature of God?

Lizeth Velarde Perez
God is God. The creator of everthing. All powerfull and mighty. He knows everthing. He sees everything. He knows who we are and who we can become. Of all things, he is also our father. This great and mighty being is the father of our spirit and he loves us. He is merciful, kind, and just. He is all that is good. Because a child grows to become like their parents, we as children of a God can grow to become gods as well. It takes time. It take trial and error. It takes a lot of patience from God to watch us stumble around trying to become more like him. In his infinit wisdome, justice, mercy, and a load of patience, he provided a way through his son jesus christ for us to be able to overcome our mistakes and return to his presence because he really does love us. Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

Lizeth Velarde Perez
There is nothing secret about what happnes in the temple. Only sacred. Besides, everything that goes on in the temple is explained in the scriptures. The purpose behind what we do in the temple helps us understand more about ourselfs, god, and our potential as eternal beings. We make promises that unite us as eternal families and give the opportunity for the deceased to partake of those blessings as well. This is so sacred only those who are ready, worthy, and prepared will be able to fully understand it's value and meaning, not because we are being exclusive about temple attendance.
