Hi I'm Katy

I grew up in a small town in Washington. I just finished my first year of college. I love my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I just finished my freshman year of college and loved it! Nutrition and the human body interest me, so I'm planning on becoming a clinical dietitian. I love running, curling up with a good book, frozen yogurt, American History, hanging out with my 6 younger siblings, making home videos, and watching sports. In just a little bit, I am leaving to go serve an 18 month mission in Wisconsin Milwaukee. I could not be more excited!

Why I am a Mormon

I love the gospel of Jesus Christ. All the happiness that I have in my life is because of this gospel. It gives me a peace of mind and a better perspective on life. No matter what trials life throws at me, I know it's all going to be okay. I don't need to worry. As long as I'm living the commandments, keeping my covenants, and putting my faith in Jesus Christ, everything will work out. The trials that I face will just make me stronger. I am a daughter of God. I have a Father in Heaven who loves me and knows me. He hears and answers my prayers. His greatest desire is that I return home to him. He knows that I'm not perfect, so he sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to atone for my sins. Through the Saviors atonement, I can repent of my sins and live with my Heavenly Father again. He also made it possible for me to live with my family forever. I love my family so much! I can't even imagine not being with them after death. Because we are sealed together in the temple, I know that I will be together with them after death. That knowledge brings so much peace and comfort! I love the Book of Mormon. It is the word of God. It was written by ancient prophets for our day. As I read that book, I receive answers to my prayers, knowledge and comfort. I owe EVERYTHING I have to the gospel of Jesus Christ. It provides me with direction, peace, comfort, and knowledge. I am so grateful to be a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to follow the example of our Savior. I love serving in the community. Growing up, I served at retirement homes, school service organizations, the Boys and Girls Club, and members of my church. Noticing the small daily opportunities to serve also brings a lot of joy in my life. I also love being a visiting teacher. As a visiting teacher, I get the opportunity to visit a couple of other women in my church monthly. It is an awesome opportunity to get to know others better and to see where I can serve in their lives. In just a little bit, I will be serving a full-time mission in Wisconsin Milwaukee. I can not wait to serve the people of Wisconsin and to teach them about the gospel that has brought me so much joy.
