Hi I'm Rhiannon

I come from Wales, and love music and reading. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have just finished my A levels, and am currently filling out some papers so I can apply to serve a mission for the church. I'm in the process of getting a job, and making sure I have a university place for when I get back from my mission. I hope to study music. I play quite a few instruments, but only do grades in harp and clarinet, and hopefully piano soon as well. I play in orchestras, and have a YouTube channel for some of my solo stuff. Quite a lot of my time is spent listening to, creating or playing music, as it is something I can really connect with. The rest of my time is spent reading, I really enjoy fiction.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church, my parents were LDS as well. Initially that's why I kept coming to church, because it was just part of the routine, something that was expected to be done - at a young age that was all that I could do. But it has become so much more than that. The gospel fills me with such joy that I can't describe, something that lasts past the initial happiness of this life. I know this church to be true, and have received a spiritual witness that this is where I need to be, that this is Christ's restored church on the earth today. If that is not enough, it all makes sense. I may not have a perfect understanding of everything in the Lord's plan, but the key principles of this gospel ring true to me. I know I'm different to quite a lot of my peers, but it's not a bad difference. Not drinking to me just seems logical even if I wasn't a member, as it loses self control, and isn't exactly healthy. Without the gospel I would have been a very different person; although saying that, I probably wouldn't see the downsides to drinking as it's just an accepted part of society. But I know that this is the restored church, that there is a living prophet on the earth today, and that the Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ along with the Bible. We are God's children, and he loves each of us as individuals.

How I live my faith

I take part in a program for young adults aged 18-30, where we meet together weekly to take part in activities and lessons. Furthermore, weekly, I go to a class with other prospective missionaries that helps me to prepare for serving a mission, and it is a class that I really enjoy. It helps us to know more about our faith, have confidence in what we know, and helps us to choose if a mission is really right for us. I also have a responsibility in the Primary organisation, as the music leader. I teach them new songs and practise old ones, and we have a lot of fun learning through music. I also try and maintain a close relationship with my Heavenly Father by praying every day, more than once, to thank him for all the blessings I am given and ask for what I am in need of. Additionally, I take time out of my day to read the scriptures; whether it is the Bible or the Book of Mormon.
