Hi I'm Spencer

I'm a full-time missionary, a US soldier, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in b-e-a-uuutiful San Diego, California, so lucky! I love camping, mountain biking, running, watching movies, weight lifting, and going to the beach. I love most any genre of music as well as teaching myself piano on occasion. I come from a family with 5 kids, middle child -.- I attended Brigham Young University in Provo, UT for a year but still don't know what to study. Afterward, I decided to enlist in the US Army for an adventure, experience, and to perhaps become a Commissioned Officer through college ROTC. I am currently a 92 Foxtrot, a Fuel Supplier for an Apache attack helicopter unit in West Jordan, Utah. I love the military life hooah! Right now I am a missionary in the Washington D.C. North mission learning Mandarin. I absolutely love it! In the scriptures it says, 'When ye are in the service of your fellow beings, ye are only in the service of your God' (Mosiah 2:17). Heavenly Father wants all of His children to have a chance to hear His gospel, and I am only one of many instruments in which He will accomplish this purpose.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it is the gospel Heavenly Father intended for us His Children to have. It has helped give me purpose in life. I know my family has been blessed with happiness, safety, and many other things because of the gospel. Through countless experiences, I have felt the conviction that Jesus Christ is our Savior, that Joseph Smith was a true prophet who translated the Book of Mormon through divine power, and that Heavenly Father in fact does love each and every one of His children, you and me.

How I live my faith

Living my faith isn't always easy, but then again, the best things in life aren't easy. I read my scriptures, pray, serve others in any capacity I can, and now, teach other people how to come closer to Jesus Christ. The challenges we have to face in today's world can seem overwhelming. Although we stumble and fall many times, I know that through the grace of Jesus Christ we can always pick ourselves back up and He will help us get back on track.

Are Mormons Christians?

Spencer
A 'Christian' is a follower of Christ, so just the fact that "Jesus Christ" is an integral part of the name of the church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints), should well enough answer that question. To put it frankly, an ancient prophet called Nephi said this in the Book of Mormon, "And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins." -2 Nephi 25:26 Show more Show less

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Spencer
A husband and a wife 'can' be together forever! This is God's plan for His Children! We hear all too often issued from the mouths of preachers and pastors of any faith the words, "'til death do you apart" at a marriage ceremony. This is not so! The relationships we develop in this mortal life can and will continue into the next life, which is why it is so important to make sure those relationships are loving and attended to right now. I realized that there is a key word in a hymn we sing from our hymn book called, "Families Can Be Together Forever" (Hymn 300). It states, "Fam'lies can be together forever, through Heav'nly Father's plan." Now, it's that word, 'can', is what I am talking about. 'Can' implies that there is a possibility, but not a certain guarantee. We need to do our part in living up to gospel laws established by God to the utmost degree. Only then can we be together as eternal families. It is a team effort. Show more Show less
