Hi I'm Jono McAdam

I am married, father to 1 son and I'm a Mormon

About Me

Hi my name is Jono I spent 3 years studying Childhood and Health in Contemporary Society at university. I have a love of reading mainly fantasy related books I am currently reading Terry Pratchett's Discworld series alongside various Garth Nix and Brandon Sanderson, one of my favorite books even though its a children's book is called The Story of the Little Mole who knew it was None of his Business by Werner Holzworth and Wolf Erlbrunch. I enjoy listening to music of all genres however I do favor Punk, Pop and Country which my wife can tolerate at least until the pop comes on. I have been married for 2 and a half years and I have a son who is 1 year old. I grew up in the North East of England but recently moved to California. I have been a member of the church for 19 years.

Why I am a Mormon

The missionaries who taught my family came at just the right time, I know there are people who may suggest this was a coincidence but someone wise once told me "there are too many coincidences for it to be a coincidence" sometimes we have to face the truth, I had just entered my teenage years when my Mum informed me she had met 2 Americans on the street and she had invited them round to "talk about God and stuff" this was really funny to me and my siblings because we were definitely not a religious family. Heavenly Father however saw inside of us something we didn't know was there, over the years I have spent a lot of time questioning things about the church trying to understand in more detail and I finally understand the principle of milk before meat. I have found that if we are willing to be taught line upon line then somehow we know the whole paragraph and in turn the whole story. It takes patience and faith but I know Heavenly Father answers and I don't take that for granted because more than not I need those answers. I will never forget the day I was aware of the truthfulness of the gospel and I don't want to. why am I a Mormon because there is nothing else that brings me greater joy and happiness that is everlasting.

How I live my faith

I think primarily I chose to live my faith through example, in no way do I claim to be perfect in fact I think sometimes when people see my mistakes and see that I can remain positive and encouraged by the gospel it gives them hope. My family have a deep love of the Temple and we make it our goal to attend at least once a month even for just a walk around the grounds, we feel it is important for our son to learn the principle that families can be together forever. In addition to this we spend a lot of time doing research into our family history and sharing our knowledge with others. We make it our responsibility to let people we are neighbors with and work with who we are and what we believe.
