Hi I'm Joe Spendlove

I was raised a Mormon but like any convert I had to find out for myself if is true.

About Me

I'm 70 years old and married to a wonderful woman for 48 years. We have three grown children. I have taught junior and senior high school until I retired a few years ago. I also worked as a educational consultant for the National Geographic Society for many years. My hobbies include reading, playing the guitar, collecting and studying maps, and playing with my children and grandchildren.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family but like most believers I had to find out for myself hat it is true. At nineteen years of age I enlisted in the army reserve as part of my military obligation. During boot camp we were given a five minute break every hour. I decided to use those five minute intervals to read, for the first time, the Book of Mormon. In six weeks I had finished the book and came to a certain knowledge that it was inspired of God. With that conviction came the desire to serve Him who gave us breath. My life has been changed for the better. I can attest to the fact that God lives, Jesus is the Christ, and revelation continues through modern prophets.

How I live my faith

Sunday School is the teaching arm of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have been called to coordinate teaching and learning for youth and adults alike. This opportunity has given me the privilege of helping others understand the saving principles of Jesus Christ, that all who attend may be edified and uplifted.
