Hi I'm Shaelyn

I love sushi and zebra print. I'm a glitter fiend. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm going to school right now, hoping to one day be a nurse. Because of this desire, I spend the majority of my free time studying. I served a Spanish speaking mission in Chicago, Illinois, and it was the best thing I've ever done. I love the city, and I love the Hispanic people.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the LDS Church, and I grew up in Utah. Pretty standard, right? Actually, I had a little bit of a different experience. For one reason or another, I did not feel accepted by many of the LDS kids in my school, and as I was struggling to "find myself" I found I identified much more strongly with those not of my faith, so growing up the majority of my close friends were not LDS. This lead to a lot of soul searching on my part at an early age, and honestly for a long time I didn't know if I believed in the church or not. But when I went away to college, I had to really figure it out, and know if I was going to church for me or my parents, and if I was going for me, I had to start living the Gospel standards. So. . . I started searching, praying, reading the scriptures, and going to institute. And my answer was, yes. Yes, this is Christ's church. Yes, there is a living prophet. Yes, the Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. I know it. I live it. I love it.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by not being afraid to share it. I love to talk to people about what I believe, and I try not to be scared of what they'll think of me when we have different standards. I'm a ward missionary, and basically what I've been asked to do is talk to the girls who are thinking about serving missions, and share with them my experiences. I also LOVE going out with the current full time missionaries and helping them out in any way I can.
