Hi I'm Julie

I'm a mother and grandmother. I love music and reading and spending time with my husband. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married to my husband, Keith, for just over 30 years. I find that most things are more fun to do with him along. We like to laugh and hold hands, grow vegies in our garden, and make pottery together. We are about to start a new adventure together - we will be serving a mission for 18 months in Russia. I love lots of different types of music: pop, light jazz, light classical, A Capella, instrumental, Celtic. And the yodeling cd I have makes me grin. I LOVE spending time with my granddaughters!

Why I am a Mormon

When I was small, I went to church because that's what my family did. When I was a teenager I was very shy but I always had friends at church. It was a welcoming place to be and I began to really listen and think about what I was being taught. There was emphasis on becoming a better person and on learning how Christ wants us to live. We were encouraged to gain our own testimony rather than relying on our parents or teachers. I wanted to know for myself whether or not these things were true. There was no blinding light or crash of thunder, no great flashy miracle. I just gradually became aware that the Gospel made sense to me. I know that this is God's church. I feel it in my very core. I have felt the comfort and peace of the love that my Heavenly Father has for me. I have had answers to prayers, been comforted when grieving or scared or when feeling totally alone in a room full of people. As I strive to study the scriptures and follow the example of Jesus Christ, I can feel myself growing in knowledge and confidence. I love my family and am glad that we will be able to be a family for eternity if we stay the course until our time on Earth is done.

How I live my faith

I am currently a volunteer at our local Family History Center. I help people get started on their genealogy and search for their ancestors. It also gives me an opportunity to work on my own family history. I am often amazed at the information about ancestors that is on the internet just waiting to be found. I also have gotten involved in the indexing program. It is often fascinating and nearly always challenging. I like the fact that I am helping add to the vast pool of information about people who lived long ago and that anyone can access. My husband and I also work with the young single adults ages 19 - 30. We help organize activities and service projects.
