Hi I'm Clark

I am a musician, athlete, dessert fanatic, and student. I am a brother, son, friend, and a child of God. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm currently a cello performance major in college. I grew up surrounded by music- I had piano and cello lessons for years, played in many different orchestras of every level, and even taught students of my own when I was older. I am also a composer, and have received awards and recognition as a composer, pianist, and cellist. I find so much joy in the creation of music (I'm mostly a classical musician, but have had great experiences in other fields too, all great music can teach truth to the soul!), and hope to one day find myself teaching full time as a professor at some university. That goal is a long way off, but working hard is never a bad plan. I have yet to discover if the music world is where I truly belong in this world, but I have faith that Heavenly Father has greater plans for me than I could ever dream of! I know that He will direct me to become the person He has planned for me to be, and that I'll find happiness through that. :)

Why I am a Mormon

To understand why I am a Mormon, you must first understand that I was born into an LDS family. However, by no means does that mean I was born Mormon (as confusing as that statement was...). While I was exposed to LDS doctrine and attended church meetings all throughout my childhood, there still came the time where I had to ask myself, "Do I really believe all this to be true?" Following that time of personal reflection, I came to know for myself of the truth of the gospel, that this really is the church of Jesus Christ restored to earth again as it was taught by Christ through Joseph Smith by the power of God. I know that the Book of Mormon is filled from front cover to back cover with truth. I know that there is lasting joy and eternal peace that comes from living this gospel- I know this because I have felt it myself. In my darkest times, and when I feel the most alone, I know my Savior is there waiting to succor and to comfort me. He has atoned for our sins so that through him we may all overcome our imperfections and become perfect as He is. He truly is our Savior. He is my Savior; he is YOUR Savior. I know this with greater surety than any other knowledge I possess, and am so grateful for that fact! Open your heart to Christ, and I promise that you will experience that same joy and peace!

How I live my faith

Being a musician, I have been given the opportunity to serve my church through music. I have helped plan the hymns that the congregation will sing, hopefully to uplift them! I have played myself in special musical numbers, accompanied choirs and other instrumentalists, and have arranged many hymns myself. The hymns available to us are so beautiful and profound, there is a message that can speak directly to our hearts in each of them! Service is a very important aspect of my faith. I feel nearest to my Savior by doing exactly what He did during his earthly ministry and serving others. Selflessness was a defining attribute of Jesus Christ, and one we should all seek to develop! In a world filled with ideas of self-interest and reputation, I strive hard to remember how great each soul is to Heavenly Father. He loves each and every one of us infinitely, and as I try to see others as He sees them, I find my own capacity to love them increase, as well as my desire to serve. I experience greater fulfillment and peace through selfless service than I ever can through selfish motives.
