Hi I'm Durinda

I grew up in Elko, NV. I am a writer and play the flute. I am a sister, a daughter and a best friend. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Durinda and I am the oldest of three children and I am the only girl. I am the oldest of 20 grandchildren. I love to read and I also write my own books. I make jewelry with either beads or metal workings.I play the flute/piccolo and I listen to music when I'm not playing my flute. I currently attend BYU-Idaho where I am working on becoming an English major with an emphasis in creative writing, and two clusters in music and geology. I love anything that has to do with Ireland and Italy. I love learning about the mythology of both countries, Ireland is my favorite. I love a lovely little Manx cat name Rose, she sure knows how to bright up my world when I am sad. Right now I am serving a glorious 18 months in the Montana Billings Mission and I am loving every minute of it!

Why I am a Mormon

Well I grew up in the church and I have really come to accept the gospel and I know it is true. I found this out on my own through prayer and study. I just know it is true because I can feel it.

How I live my faith

I attend all meetings at church. I am currently on a mission for the Montana Billings Mission. I read my scriptures everyday and I ponder them as a well. I attend the temple when I can. I pray everyday and I look for opportunities to serve people everyday. I try to love everyone as Jesus would.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Durinda
No we are not required to serve, but it is highly recommended that we do. Show more Show less

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Durinda
Mormon Women are strong members in the church. It is our responsibility to raise and nurture our children in the ways of the Lord. Most women in the church have very strong faith and many of the younger women look up to the older ones in support and strength in this modern world where women are viewed as something to be lust after not as they really are, daughters of Heavenly Father. In the church women can hold great callings such as Relief Society where sisters can come together for support during hard times of trial. Women are equal in the eyes of God. Show more Show less

What is the Book of Mormon?

Durinda
The Book of Mormon is another Testament of Jesus Christ. Many people outside of the church do not know that underneath the words "The Book of Mormon" it also says "Another Testament of Jesus Christ". Just like the Bible the Book of Mormon has written records written by prophets called by God that talks about God's dealings with His children. It also contains the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Book of Mormon was written for our day so that we may all know God's eternal plan. It has the Plan of Salvation, and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It shows the love the love God has for us. The highlight in the Book of Mormon is when Jesus Christ came to the Americas. Jesus mentioned other sheep that was not in His fold in Jerusalem in John 10 and in 3 Nephi He tells the people in the Americas that they were that sheep he mentioned when He was teaching to the people in Jerusalem. The Book of Mormon supports the Bible and in Ezekiel 37 it is mentioned that there are two sticks one is Judah and the other is Joseph. The stick of Judah is the Bible and the stick of Joseph is the Book of Mormon. Together the Bible and the Book of Mormon both shows the love God has for us. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and that it was written for our day to help us know what we should be doing while we are here on the Earth. Show more Show less
