Hi I'm Shawnee Crowther

I grew up in Utah. I am currently serving in the Arizona Scottsdale Mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I strive to be cheerful and positive. I am excited for the future and what it holds for me and my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I know with all my heart that God is my literal Father in Heaven that I am made in his image and that he loves me more than I can comprehend. He knows me personally and perfectly. I know God is the same yesterday today and forever and has always followed a pattern of love for his children and a deep concern by calling prophets and that through these chosen men I can partake of the sweetest blessings that the priesthood power can bring in to my life. I know that the original church that Jesus Christ once established on this earth over two thousand years ago, has been restored to the earth once again. I know that the greatest Prophet that has ever lived was Jesus Christ who is the firstborn of the Father in the flesh. I can testify that Jesus Christ lived and died for me and lives again and that through him I can be transformed, changed and one day be perfected by him and through him. I bare testimony that The gospel of Jesus Christ is a way of life and I know that as I have humbled myself and let the enabling power of the Atonement flow through every thought and feeling and act that I have been able to get back up, after I thought it was impossible. It wasn't easy but I saw my world change when I started applying the doctrines of the gospel in my life. I know Jesus Christ lived and died unlike all those who have proceeded before him rose from the dead and I know because of him we can all live. I have felt Guilt become peace, regrets become relief, I know that death has no sting and the grave no victory. Because of him we have second chances, clean slates new beginnings, because of him there is no such thing as an end. Because of him we can live.

How I live my faith

There are essential doctrines, principles and commandments that I strive very hard to study, teach, love and live. The doctrine of Christ teaches us principles and promises we can learn and live. I grew up believing that the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was Christ's church re-established again on the earth, but I needed to know for myself. I found my testimony of the Book of Mormon, of prophets, temples and many principles of The Gospel of Jesus Christ as I acted in faith, and repentance. I know that I have felt Gods love throughout my life and especially as I fall to my knees and call on my loving Father in Heaven for guidance, direction, forgiveness and thanksgiving. It hasn't been perfect, but that's the very reason I am here in this life to learn from challenges. Through these moments that I have fallen and have been able to get back up is because I turned my heart toward Jesus Christ and his doctrine. The Savior lead by example, and I am so grateful for all the wonderful Christ-like examples I have in my life. My family and friends I have learned so much through the example of each of them, and I see how Christs light shines through them. I live my faith by striving to follow the Saviors example by living outward, for others and being aware of their needs and feelings. I have struggled with being an outward example, when its easy to turn inward. Christ always turned outward, even when it was most difficult. Because of Christ and his Atoning sacrifice I can repent and progress and continue to be more like him. Because of HIM I can live and through him I can love. Love is the very essence of the gospel and Christ is our exemplar -Thomas S. Monson

What do Mormons believe about family?

Shawnee Crowther
Family is one of the core beliefs of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I believe that families can last forever-not just for this life. I know that in my life the sweetest joy's have come from family relationships, I have experienced the loss of loved ones in my life and can bring deep sorrow but I know that I will see them again with my whole heart and that brings a peace to my soul because I know that death does not need to be the end of my family relationships with those I love. The Lord revealed to the Prophet Joseph Smith that the "same sociality which exists among us here will exist among us there [in eternity], only it will be coupled with eternal glory. (Doctrine and Covenants 130:2) I know that as we each accept the Atonement of Jesus Christ and follow His example we can live with our family forever through sacred ordinances performed in God's holy temples. Jesus gave Peter the power to have things sealed on earth sealed in heaven (Matthew 16:19) This same sealing power was restored to Joseph Smith. I truly believe that I can be "sealed" or bound to my family through this power, the Priesthood power enabling me and my family to be forever together. Show more Show less
