Hi I'm Lindsay Somerhalder

I am a wife, mother and a nurse. My husband and kids are my life and I wouldn't have it any other way. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married ten years and have two kids and one coming anytime in the next 5 weeks. I am lucky to be able to spend most of my time with my kids- who keep me on my toes, drain my energy and delight me all at the same time. I also work as an RN part time in an ICU unit. It is nice to be able to use a different side of my brain and help other people as well. My husband is my best friend and one handsome dude. He keeps me sane, makes me laugh, and makes my stomach flip still! I love spending time as a whole family but enjoy the occasional date nights and the chill nights of sitting on the couch with my sweetheart. I am an avid reader of all types of books. I love being outside hiking or some other adventure. If I had tons of money, I would travel like a mad woman. For now, I make dream plans and love living my current dream with my adorable husband and kids.

Why I am a Mormon

As mentioned earlier, I grew up a Mormon. I didn't start really thinking about why I was a Mormon until my high school years. I was never really tempted to reject the religion- I must have felt the goodness and truth it provided in my life. However, I did finally start wanting to have my own personal confirmation that the church was true. I read some books about the beginnings of Mormonism and they really helped to bring my testimony of Joseph Smith and the restoration of Christ's church to life. I read the Book of Mormon completely and asked God if what I had read was true. I felt warmth, peace, and an assurance of truth. Now, as a mother and full adult, I love the spirit I receive when I read the Book of Mormon. It offers direct guidance, but the general spirit of it's words also help me in my every day life. I also know Jesus is the Christ, our brother, and the son of God. I have a testimony of his Atonement, though I will admit I do not fully understand it. His compassion and love for men humbles me. The ability to return to Him and our Father again with our families is such a gift!

How I live my faith

I have been a member all my life, so serving in the church has always been something that you do. Not until I grew up did I realized the time and effort it takes- and the rewards it gives. I have served with young children most of my adult life and loved it- their sweet and innocent spirits and general enthusiasm is captivating and fun. I am currently working with teenage girls and also love it! It is wonderful to watch them grown into full women and see them mature.
