Hi I'm Colton Johnson

My name is Colton, I love books, I love to explore and I am a Mormon Missionary.

About Me

I am the oldest of five. I grew up in the suburbs playing soccer, water polo, and too many video games. In high school I jumped at the chance to leave and go to a community college. I worked as an english tutor at the writing center.

Why I am a Mormon

I became a member because my family was one. I stayed a member because I saw what power truth has on all people. I have seen my family healed by the gospel. I have seen lives turned around. I have had the privilege of seeing people accept the gospel. Each time I see it, my eyes are opened- it is a miracle to me. The Holy Ghost hits them and they feel this feeling that is so hard to describe. And we can both feel that feeling, and they want more, and the room feels electrified. I can feel that spirit when I get to give service- I am doing what God would want me to do, and I feel a tiny portion of his love for each person. It is amazing. I am a Mormon because of the Holy Ghost. I believe in his guidance and power, and I have felt it in my life.

How I live my faith

I could pose the question: "What would I be like without the Gospel?" Now of course, I don't really know the answer, but I have some good ideas. I most likely wouldn't serve as much- I am not naturally the type that just gets up and seeks opportunities to serve. I might help someone if they asked me, but it wouldn't be a goal. My life has been blessed by examples in my family of service, and I've been asked to help in all matter of service projects, and I have gained a knowledge that service blesses those that serve as well as those that are served. Prayer would probably not be in my life either. And I have been immensely blessed as I have prayed and my prayers have been answered. Mind you, that doesn't mean I just asked for some thing and got it. Instead, I have felt God's presence in my life, and sometimes I am sent comfort, and sometimes I get the answer that what I wanted was not such a good idea. But always I feel an increase in love towards those around me, which confirms that prayer is from God. I definitely wouldn't have read the scriptures. I have read the Book of Mormon a ton because of the examples of those around me, and promptings towards reading it, and I have a strong conviction of its truthfulness. It brings peace to my life and is a huge blessing in my life. I have read the Bible (lots of it anyways) and I wouldn't have done that either if it had not been for seminary. Seminary is just a high school class that is taken before or during school that teaches the Bible, Book of Mormon, and restored truths.
