Hi I'm Whitney

I enjoy watching baseball and football especially since I'm from Texas! I love to play basketball, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I absolutely love the outdoors: snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, hiking and four-wheeling. I also love going to the lake. I'm way more of a lake girl than a beach girl! I'm sporty yet girly...i guess the best of both worlds. I love to get a little mud on my hands, but I love dressing up when the time calls for it. I guess this is what I get for having only an older brother and a dad who love all these things. I played basketball in high school and absolutely love it! That, and dance, have always been something that I have greatly enjoyed! But basketball was my passion. I would take it over cheerleading and dance any day! My favorite sport is baseball! My senior year of high school, I was able to be a baseball manager with my best friend...plus all of the guys and my, at the time, boyfriend were on the team. I am going to college right now and working towards getting into a dental hygiene or pre-dental program! I have always wanted to be in the medical field and hopefully it will come true!

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized and confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at the age of eight, though i have been taught the teachings of the Gospel since I was born. However, it's not enough to rely on the testimony of your parents or guardians. I needed to know if what my parents believed was really what I believed. So, I followed what it says in James 1:5 and Moroni 10:3-5. I asked and received an answer. This is the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. It was restored by the prophet Joseph Smith and continues to be led by Christ through the prophet Thomas S. Monson. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and another Testament of Jesus Christ. This Gospel is perfect. This Gospel is happiness. This Gospel is love. I continue to follow His gospel because without it I would not have the joy and happiness that I have. I continue to follow His Gospel because I know it to be true! I cannot deny it.

How I live my faith

The way I live my faith is by practicing what I know is true through being an example to those around me so that they will see the light of Christ in me! I moved to Texas at the age of 11. The school my brother and I went to was a private christian school. We were the only Mormons at the school, but what I first thought was a curse became an absolute blessing! Many of my friends began to find out I was a Mormon as the years went on and mainly due to me correcting people who were saying false things about the church. Since I went to a private christian school, we were required to take a "bible" class, and the teachers could provide their own information. I can probably count at least seven times when a teacher said something wrongly about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and I would have to correct them. Some might ask if I was scared or why I would go to the trouble of correcting the teacher. Well, you bet I was a little nervous. I didn't want to lose my friends, but I knew that the Gospel was way more important! I wanted them to know the truth and then they could decide for themselves whether to believe it or not. Of course, standing up to my teachers was intimidating, but I knew that they would respect me for it. I remember correcting my history teacher, and he actually personally thanked me for doing so! I hope my example was seen at my school and my community. I participated in my school by being a leader. I was the captain of my junior varsity basketball team as a freshman, co-captain of my varsity basketball team, a varsity cheerleader, the vice president of my student body, the secretary of National Honors Society, and a member of spanish and science club. I am currently attending an LDS church for college students in Orem, Utah where I visit with two amazing girls about church, life, and anything else they have on their hearts. It is so refreshing to be able to sit down with these girls and be able to talk about the Gospel.
