Hi I'm Caitlyn

I live surrounded by wildlife and mountains in Idaho. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the country, only mile away from my grandparent's farm and dairy, where my dad grew up. As a kid I spent all my summers catching turtles and fish from a lake in my backyard. Since I was young I've been fascinated by wildlife and adventure. I also avidly read from all sorts of genres, including comicbooks and biographies. A senior at BYU-Idaho, I work hard at what I love: studying wildlife. In 2013 I put that aside to serve as a missionary in Roseville, CA.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a very religious community but growing up I saw friends fall away from the standards they were taught, make mistakes, or leave their church entirely. I noticed they never became happier by following the world's standards and very often ran into unhappy experiences they could have avoided. Luckily, my parents always taught me I don't have to find out the hard way which path to take. I can find my own answers to problems and worries through prayer and follow the examples in the scriptures. I can honestly say that I have felt God's love and received answers from the Holy Spirit by reading the Bible and Book of Mormon. I know the Book of Mormon has been written for us today, by God, and I am proud of my faith. I know that I am a happier person and get the most out of life when I'm living the tenants of my youth. I've had the privilege of seeing some join the church and watched light of Christ illuminate their lives. This church is about finding true happiness; maybe not the happiness that comes temporarily from "partying" or living the way the world thinks we should, but the satisfaction and inner peace that comes only from Christ that can never be taken away.

How I live my faith

A pivotal moment when I really began showing and living my faith came when I chose to serve a proselyting mission. Living in California I have met and loved more different kinds of people than I ever thought I could before. The best part was seeing the light of the gospel of Jesus Christ touch someone's life and increase their faith and love of God. I show my faith first by trying to be the best person I can be each day. This means trying my best and not giving up when I make mistakes. As a missionary, I share my faith with others by showing them how they can learn truth straight from God and receive their own personal direction. Secondly, I show my faith by trying to love as Jesus loved. He said to love everybody, no exceptions. I show my faith in Christ's sacrifice by never judging a person by race, past, outward appearances, sexual orientation, or anything else that puts barriers between God's children. Jesus Christ's gospel is for everyone and everyone can make it back to God if they follow the way Christ set. I know this is true!

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

YES!!! I love the Bible and read from it constantly! Some of my greatest spiritual moments have come from reading the Bible. I think everyone should read it, and not just say they "believe" it or take the word of someone else. God will tell you for yourself that it is His word. Show more Show less
