Hi I'm Austin Bertoch

I was raised in Spring Texas. Family is everything to me and I love meeting new people! And I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am currently attending Brigham Young University. I enjoy interacting with people so mainly I am looking to major in something in the service industry hopefully in the medical field. I LOVE MUSIC. I took up trombone playing in Middle School and all throughout High School and was apart of Jazz Band and Marching Band. My sophomore year of High school I started teaching myself how to play Acoustic Guitar and bought my own guitar that year and still teach myself today by looking up tabs online and by my brother giving me tips too. I also made sure to focus on my academics and graduated in the top 10% of my class and was in NHS. I love sports and some of my favorite memories were watching Baseball Games with my dad and hanging out with my friends at our High School Football games. But if there is one thing I love the most its my family. I have been so blessed to have a family where I know I belong and feel there love everyday. I have two older brothers and an older sister. They're all happily married and have been outstanding examples to me my whole life and I love them so much. My parents are the reason I am who I am today and I can't imagine having better parents then they were to me. They taught me to love the Gospel and to love all of those around me. And lastly I will be leaving to serve In Curitiba Brazil for two years and I'm totally stoked! But yeah that's a little bit about me :)

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon? I am a Mormon because well I was born into the LDS faith. But the reason I continue to be a member of the LDS church is because I know it is true. I was raised in Texas and because of that almost all of my friends are members of several different faiths. I respect what they believe and I love them a ton! There were points where I wondered why I was a member of the Mormon Church and how does that make me different from the people I love? My answer came when I read the Book Of Mormon completely my Freshman Year of High school. I knew it was true! I prayed about it and knew it was true! And because of that I knew that God was my loving Father in Heaven and that His Son Jesus Christ came to Earth and suffered and died for everyone so that we all can return back to God to live with him! That Joseph Smith truly was a Prophet called of God! I knew that even more when I had the opportunity to go to Carthage Jail where he was martyred. It was then I knew that there was no doubt that he Saw God the Father and his Son Jesus Christ and that through him Christ's church was restored. And he died knowing it. And sealed his testimony with his blood. Yes I was born into the Mormon Church. But it wasn't until later in my life I came to realize why. Why I am a Mormon. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday-Saints because I know with all my heart that this is Christ's church and that this is the only Church where the fullness of the Gospel of Christ is taught and It changes lives. And there is no doubt it has changed mine.

How I live my faith

I try my best to be an example of living my faith every day! I was raised in the Mormon Church and attended church services every sunday. In the young men youth program in our church we have opportunities to lead in certain age groups and I was the President or leader of the 14-16 year old group as well as the 16-18 year old group. While I was the President in those group/quorums I was responsible for planning activities that we have each Wednesday which meeting is called Mutual which is when the youth of the area meet to do various fun activities and scouts for the Boy's and the Young Women's program for the girls. As a leader of those quorums I also was in charge of each boy in my age group which means if there was boy in my group who was having a hard time and for example hadn't been to church for a long time I would call them or contact them to see how they're doing and If I can help them in any way. I loved being able to serve in those positions and now I am preparing to serve a mission in Curitiba Brazil for two years where I will go out to serve and teach the Wonderful people of Brazil. The most important part of living my faith happens at my home. I have a deep belief and love for prayer. As I go throughout my days I try my best to kneel to my Father In Heaven in prayer and I have found that those prayers carry me through my hardest trials and give me joy where I would otherwise find heart ache.
