Hi I'm Jacob Brad Johnson

I'm a ballroom dancer. I'm a Missionary. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was a competitive dancer for 2 and a half years. In March of 2013, I placed 4th in Smooth Ballroom for youth at BYU Nationals Dancesport competition. I've left that for a while so I can be a missionary for 2 years! I've been active in discussing religion with friends, family, and everyone around me my whole life. I and some of my other Christian but non-Mormon friends discuss religion all the time in active and lively conversations. I'm an Eagle Scout in the scouting organization. I love to hike, run, and go to any club that has good dancing, West Coast Swing being my favorite. I graduated from the Utah Valley University(UVU) with an Associates Degree when I was 17, due to Attending UCAS(Utah's Coolest Academic School). I love learning and reading about the world around me. I'm currently a Missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I'm serving in New Zealand, Wellington Mission. I love my savior and strive to be more like him daily.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because this way of life yields the most happiness that I've ever felt. This church truly believes that we are here on earth to be happy. As is said in 2 Nephi 2:25 "Men are, that they might have joy". I'm a Mormon because living the principles taught by this faith yield the most joy possible. We heavily emphasize care, kindness, family, intelligence, and love. I remember when I was a teenager and I paused one day; I thought, "What am I doing." I realized over the course of a year that I needed to reconsider my life choices. I don't know what it was, but over the next few months, I had to consider what actually gave me the feelings of joy, happiness, and peace. As I discovered, living my life in accordance with what is taught by prophets of God, the Holy Bible, and the Book of Mormon brought me the most amazing feelings of peace and joy. I promise you that if you read the Book of Mormon, you will feel of the amazing peace that comes with it and have the desire to follow Christ more fully by becoming a member of the Church of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

Before my mission I taught the young children in my church every Sunday. I had a class of all the nine year old children who attend. We had fun discussions about how to apply prayer, and fun ways to show love for our family, as well as all sorts of other scriptural topics. I always challenged them to read the scriptures and to pray to their loving Heavenly Father. I was always astounded by how intelligent these young children are. Before the mission, every Wednesday morning at 6:30 AM, me and whatever friends of mine, as well as my brother, used to go up to the Temple, where we participate in work for the deceased. Now as a missionary I cannot wait to get back to going to the temple every week. I am a missionary sharing the gospel every day with wonderful people prepared to hear the gospel by their friends, family, and God. I live a very tight schedule waking up at 6:30 every day, studying for hours, and then spending the rest of the day finding people, teaching people, and serving people here in New Zealand.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Jacob Brad Johnson
For me, I had lived 'Mormonism' from birth. I attended church, read scriptures, prayed, participated as a member of the priesthood, etc. I guess I had always supposed it was right, until I hit my teens. I had a lot of friends who always tried to dissuade me from my believes, or persuade me of their believes. I realized I had to know which was right. I looked at Catholicism, Atheism, Methodists, I even learned heaps more about my own church. I realized that there was too much confusion to leave it to mans understanding; God is the best way to know truth. I've found that from the Bible. 'Trust in the Lord', 'Lean not to thy own understanding', and so forth. I took the question to God. As I desperately needed to know, I plead with the Lord to give me understanding. I studied carefully from the scriptures, Bible and Book of Mormon, and I listened to the Holy Spirit of the Lord for an answer. The Lord has given me an answer, undeniably so, that this is His church. Christ is His son and our Saviour. The Bible is His word. Prophets speak to us today. You can know this too by listening to the message of Christ through the Missionaries and by prayerfully reading The Book of Mormon. Amen. Show more Show less
