Hi I'm Ethan

I'm from Arizona and I'm currently a missionary in the Canada Edmonton Mission.

About Me

I am the youngest of four kids in my family. I play the guitar and I love music. I teach myself to do a lot of random stunts (handstands, vaults, etc) and I like to just relax and chill with friends. I've been going to a singles ward for about a year and have gotten involved in a lot of activities there. I have about a semester and a half left of school before I get my Associates degree but I'm taking a break from school to serve a mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church but both of my parents are converts. Even though I was raised in the church, I was encouraged to figure out things for myself. I like the principles that this church follows and I am proud to be a member. I have taken a few cultural studies type classes including world religions. I loved learning about other's beliefs and I saw a lot of similarities in the major religions of the world. these other religions also had similar ideologies that I support. The pillars of Islam and the emphasis they have in submitting to God, the power of choices and the importance of life in Hinduism and Buddhism, etc. All of these religions have good in them and they have truths but I believe that they are all missing something. I have heard it compared to a broken mirror; they can still see a reflection in the mirror but there are pieces missing. I believe that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has the fully restored gospel (the whole mirror) with the same principals that Christ taught and with the same Priesthood which He used.

How I live my faith

Like I said before, I go to a singles ward. We do a lot of events to try and get people to meet on a more informal basis. Every Monday night we have family home evening activities that the ward hosts. Some things we have done in the past are laser tag, movie nights, dancing, etc. We also try to get people involved in doing service. One of my callings in the ward is to be on a service committee and we set up projects or got involved with other groups. Recently we had the opportunity to volunteer at a Special Olympics Basketball tournament which was really fun. I'm not much of a talker and another calling I got was to be a teacher so once a month I would teach a Priesthood class. I was really nervous at first but after doing it a couple of times it got better and I started getting better at teaching. I'm a really shy person and when I first started coming to the ward I didn't talk to anyone, but the people are really friendly and after I while I began to warm up to them. I don't really know what else to say so yeah, I'm happy with the church and I have a lot of friends there.
