Hi I'm Lucy Brown

I have six children, five living and twelve grandchildren. I read, knit and run. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to read, I love to knit and I love to run. My favorite author is Alexander Dumas and my favorite book is The Count of Monte Cristo .I usually have six or more knitting projects going at one time. Right now I am knitting myself a beautiful sweater, dolls for my granddaughters, stocking caps for missionaries and dinosaurs for my grandsons. Last year at age 55 I ran my first marathon. My brother promised to run with me if I ran the Richmond marathon. He helped keep me motivated. We crossed the finish line together, our hands held high. Each year our family participates in a "Turkey Trot" run in our hometown. We all wear an orange t-shirt with the logo, "One heart, one family" in a circle and outside the circle it proclaims, "Running in memory of PFC Luke Brown." The Thanksgiving before my son unexpectedly passed away we ran this race together. He finished before me and came back for me and ran the last half mile backwards cheering me on. We wear orange because that was his favorite color. Last year we had nearly 60 family members and friends participate.

Why I am a Mormon

Being a member of His church has brought answers to all of life's questions. I know that we lived before we came to earth and that we will live again. I know that the restored church, His church has brought back saving ordinances that all can participate in so that we can live with our Heavenly Father again. I know that I will be with my family forever. I know that our Heavenly Father wants us to be happy here and in the eternities and because of that he has given us a plan to live by where we can achieve this. Everyday I am grateful for the knowledge that I have.

How I live my faith

I love being a mormon. I love having the opportunity to visit with other members and to help them in times of joy and sorrow. I have been lucky enough to work with the youth most of my membership in the church. They bring such vitality and happiness to my life. My husband and I are serving as a missionaries at this time in the Scotland/Ireland mission. We have been asked to work specifically with the Young Adults. It is a privelege to work with these young people. We have loved the opportunity to be in this part of the world and meet these wonderful people. It is so wonderful to be a part of a church that lets you serve at any age.
