Hi I'm Wendy

I'm a Mother and Care Assistant and Advocate

About Me

I live a very busy life as a Single Mum. I have the privlidge of having a job as a Care Assistant. Its very demanding yet rewarding. I get complete satisfaction in knowing I have made a difference to someone elses' life. I devote all of my time to my son. When I have some spare time I like to raise awareness of heart health issues and the shortage of organ donors on behalf of the British Heart Foundation. This is a close subject to me as I had a heart transplant. I spend my time, keeping fit and healthy by biking, swimming, walking. I love to spend time with my son and family creating lots of cherished memories. I love to meet up with friends and socialise when I can.

Why I am a Mormon

In simple terms it makes me HAPPY! I was born into the church, however, there did come a point in life where I had to make a decision of whether to stay or go. My mum raised me, as she did her other children to the best that she could. She was the perfect example to me of a Mother's love. I had a traumatic childhood due to the choices' of others. I remember being homeless, with only the clothes on our backs and a little gas canistor for light. I remember the prayers that were offered up to our Heavenly Father for help to come our way. I always remember the warm feeling inside that I felt. I knew at that point there was a supreme being, looking down on us and that we had not been forgotten. My mum did a fantastic job on Family Home Evenings which we held each Monday as a family. She always made them creative and the love in our home that she had to share with us, was abundant. There was one occassion where I had the opportunity to go to the Temple and be in the sealing room of my parents at that time. I knew then that on that occassion I was where I was meant to be and in the True Church. It felt right. Everything made sense. The whole purpose of life that we lived once before, we came down to earth to get a body, we learn through our trials and mistakes and through the atonement, we are able to return to our Father in Heaven and once again return to our familes for time and all eternity. I couldn't imagine anything more happier than that. I believe strongly that we have trials in this life to help us to learn to become stronger and that even though we make mistakes we can learn from these. I belive in a God of Miracles. In church we believe in the power of healing through the authority that has been given from God to man who holds the Melchizedek Priesthood (the keys of the kingdom) through the laying on of hands and a blessing of healing given. Just like when Jesus Christ ministered upon the earth he performed miracles such as healing the blind man.

How I live my faith

I have held many responsibilities in Church. I have been a Missionary serving my local area, which I gained great joy by explaining to others about the beliefs of what we belive in and how much happiness it brings. I have had the privlidge of teaching the little children and recieving joy from their sweet spirits as they get to learn more about their Heavenly Father and the love He has for each of us. I was also a Leader to the Young Womens aged 11-18 where again I had the opportunity to teach the Gospel Principles. I also taught Singing to the children and I was able to teach the gospel to them through the words of music. I live my faith by living the principles and standards of the Gospel. I dress modestly, I refrain from swearing and live a good clean life, honoring the laws of the land. I surround myself with good people. I believe its vital that I get to know my Heavenly Father through daily prayer on my own. I also pray with my family and read my scriptures. I seek after those things which are good. I live a positive life and always believe that through the atonement many things can be acomplished.
