Hi I'm Kara

I'm a geography lover, a pin collector, an enthusiastic learner, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a beautiful city called American Fork, Utah with my 6 younger siblings. We love being together, and we grew up doing a lot of house-playing, paper-snowflake-making, scary-story-telling, and random-object-collecting. All seven of us are great friends and have enjoyed a wonderful, happy, and wholesome home. Since I was very young, I have had a thirst for knowledge that has never ceased! I am fascinated by the world and everything in it - chemistry, language, culture, geography, physics, literature, history, people, art, nature, calculus, religion - you name it! I continue to read and learn, which brings me so much joy in my life. I am curious by nature and am always asking questions and looking for answers. I am always amazed by the beauty that is constantly to be found everywhere I look. There are tiny jewels of truth and goodness all around to be discovered the more I search. I am only 20 years old, and thankfully I have a lot of growing to do still! I have studied Chemical Engineering at Brigham Young University, been in the student government all of my high-school years, and will talk to anyone and everyone. I love making friends and loving people wherever I am at, even if that place is Wendy's, the bus stop, or a football game. I also like making things, going new places, and helping people. Life is a beautiful thing; I am lucky to be a part of it!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because I am better and happier when I follow it's teachings. It guides me to the fullest blessings of Christ's love, help, and forgiveness. The fullness of His Sacrifice can be accessed only through the principles taught in the Church, and this leads to a peace inside of me that stands independent of anything that happens in the world. I love that security. It makes me strong. Even when hard things happen, I can have a joyous soul because of the blessings the Gospel brings. Through experiencing the Atonement of Christ, the weight on our souls can be lifted and we can be released from burdens into a life of peace. I love hearing God's words and knowing of His love through His inspired servants, and reaping the blessings of His priesthood power on this earth. If I look, Christ and His Spirit are everywhere; that brings happiness to me that I have not found anywhere else.

How I live my faith

My life is given meaning by the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I live my faith by an accumulation of simple and everyday acts that bring me joy. I try to be happy and enjoy the things I do; I think that shows what the gospel has done for me. I love going to a Church university, teaching Sunday School in my ward, and doing my best to learn skills that will help me the rest of my life. Life is so joyous with the gospel! I am learning more about loving people as the Savior would and helping them see what is most important. I love to share the peace and relief that has come to my soul through the Savior with others so He can heal them too.

Why do Mormons baptize their new members?

Many people might wonder why baptism is essential when one lives a good and righteous life. Christ is a God of order and organization; it would only make sense that we should be required to give Him a formal symbol and covenant of our devotion to His gospel through His established priesthood authority. All have the opportunity to follow the Savior and be baptized should they choose to. What a privilege and blessing! Additionally, baptism provides immense blessings of forgiveness, fellowship, healing, and power. I know that those blessings are real, and rejoice in the fact that we can all receive of them through restored Priesthood power. Show more Show less
