Hi I'm Julia

I'm from Southern California. I attend college in Hawaii. I'm Japanese American. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Southern California with my parents and three older brothers. My parents are originally from Japan, but raised my family in California. I am a newly wed and am enjoying this new chapter of my life. I currently attend college in Hawaii with my husband, studying Graphic Design. I love anything that has to do with crafts, Photoshop, cooking, and baking. When I graduate from college I hope to travel around the world with my husband.

Why I am a Mormon

In April of 2010, I became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I was introduced to the church through my now husband in 2009 before he left for two years to serve a mission. I grew up in a non religious family with little knowledge of God so taking this step toward any kind of religion was a big deal. I was not seeking anything at the time, but it just so happened that it was exactly what I needed. Being a member of this church has brought so much joy in my life. I have a greater appreciation for the things that I once took for granted such as my wonderful family and the nature that surrounds me. I know that all good things come from God and I recognize His hand in my life each day. It is amazing to see how my life has changed from not knowing where I was headed in life to being blessed to attend college in Hawaii and being married to such a loving husband. I have become much more kind and loving towards others and I know that it is because of the way I have chosen to live my life as a Mormon. I love that I know there is a specific plan for me in this life through a loving Heavenly Father. I am grateful to have the knowledge of Christ's teachings and for the opportunity to apply it in my life.

How I live my faith

Somedays it is not easy to live my faith, but I wake up each morning knowing that I have a loving Father in Heaven who is watching over me. With this knowledge, it helps me to be kind to others and to be the best that I can. My husband is a wonderful example of being friendly to everyone he meets. I also try to live my faith through another example, Jesus Christ. He is my prime example of kindness, meekness, gratitude, love, charity, and service for everyone. Service is a big part of Latter-day Saints. I try to live this through serving those that need help in my ward especially when they are facing trials or have had major changes in their life (loss of a loved one or a new baby). I also serve as a teacher to the women in my ward and am grateful for this calling to be able to teach and learn from them.
