Hi I'm Maria

I went to six different colleges. I am a mother to a one-year-old son. I am a dietitic intern. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love music. I met my husband in high school (he was my dancing partner in show choir). I played percussion in the Nauvoo Brass Band and now I'm teaching my one-year-old how to play the piano. Okay, he can't actually play, but he loves pounding on the keys nonetheless! I've been to quite a few different colleges. I can say good and bad about each school I attended, and I can honestly say that I learned something valuable from each. The schools in which I was very involved in service as well as institute hold some of my favorite memories by far! My son was born three weeks before graduating... those three weeks are kind of a blur. Now I'm completing a dietetic internship. It requires that I be at my different rotations 40 hours a week and then classwork on top of that. Some days it gets pretty busy and I think I can't do it all with having a son, but then I remember why I'm here, how much I love my husband and my son, and how much God loves me. I feel like I've had help every step of the way.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it gives me peace in my life. I have felt God's love for me and I know who I am and where I am going.

How I live my faith

I love seeing a smile on others' faces. One of the most sincere smiles come from serving others. I try to keep this in mind as I'm going throughout my day and bring that smile to others' faces. My church calling is to serve in the Family History Committee. I love this calling because it has motivated me to learn more about my ancestors and I feel like I know them better now. My husband and I teach a Family History Class and we help other members in our ward search for their ancestors and record their information on familysearch.org, a genealogy website.
