Hi I'm Amelia Belchior

My name is Amelia Belchior. I was born in Marromeu, a small city in Mozambique, Africa. I'm a college student & I am a Mormon.

About Me

I love to influence children and youth. When it comes to protecting children, I am the best advocate there is. I lost my parents at a young age and I believe that some children suffer for a choice they did not make. That is why I like to give speeches and be involved in youth programs so I can help young people make wise decisions, especially when it comes to promiscuous sexual behavior. I like to help people understand the danger that comes from being involved in promiscuous sexual behavior. Many people die with AIDS because of if. I am currently a college student, studying public relations. I love to interact with others.

Why I am a Mormon

The gospel touches my heart. I was catholic in Mozambique and when I was invited to the Mormon church, I thought that it was interesting how it was the only church on this Earth that has Christ's full name in it. It is the church of Jesus Christ. The scripture says if a church belongs to John it must be named after John; therefore, if it is Christ's church, it must be called by His name. I love being a Mormon because it is almost like Catholic church plus more. The things that I learned in the Catholic church are valuable but in the Mormon Church, we practice the things taught in the Catholic Church. I that I actually get to practice what Christ did like preaching the gospel. This is the Church of Christ. Everything we do, say, the way we dress, shows that we are Christians. I love every part of Mormonism and I cannot wait to learn more as time goes by. The fact that we have a living prophet, makes me feel save and guided. I know that God will protect me from the danger of the world. President Hinckley started cautioning members about the danger of pornography way before it became worldly known. He saw it coming. He received a revelation. The first presidency talked about the importance of family way before gayism was an issue. Things like these plus more make me love being a Mormon. I am proud to be a Mormon. I have no shame.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by my example. I try to be as Christ-like as possible. I look for good in people and help others see the good in themselves as well. I am in the linger-longer committee and we plan activities for young single adults. We get together once or twice a month and mingle with a little snack to fill in the silence. I love visiting teaching. It makes me happy when I do my visiting teaching because it is an act of kindness and caring. I learn to love the sisters I visit teach. Some sisters I visited are now my best friends.

What do Mormons believe about family?

Amelia Belchior
I believe that families can be together and forever. I believe that family is the most important source of happiness. Think about it, no matter what you go through, your family will always be your family. We go through so many friends and we break-up from relationships, but we never break-up from our families. We may reject our families but we are not breaking up because our father will always be our father and our brothers will always be our brothers. It is important that we great a bond with our family members because families are eternal. Families bring our the greatest happiness. Show more Show less
