Hi I'm Iona

I was born in Scotland, but I now live in London, England. I'm an Event Florist. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I'm a single career minded lass. I'm an Event Florist. I love my job which is extremely varied and it has given me the opportunity to work locally, nationally and internationally in the Floral Industry.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents joined the church in the 1950's so I grew up in the church. When I was sixteen I decided to study The Book of Mormon and decide for myself if it's teachings were true. I read it from cover to cover, pondering it's teachings and eventually made my own mind up I would like to live by it's teachings by my own free choice and not merely because it was my parents belief system. The Book of Mormon has made me want to keep progressing in life and be a better person.

How I live my faith

I had the opportunity to serve a full time mission in the Greece Athens Mission for 18 months. I learned to read and speak Greek so I could teach our beliefs to the wonderful Greek people I served. It was a fantastic experience which I thoroughly enjoyed and it is one of the best opportunities I have had in my life I also have a big family and I try to be a good example to them, especially my younger nieces and nephews. We are a closely united family and we have the church to thank you that. Frequently I attend the Family History Centre where I am researching my ancestors and putting my family tree together. At present I'm compiling/documenting all our extended family photographs which will be re-distributed back to all family members. This has been a joy to work on and I have enjoyed meeting up with my extended family to collect vital information for this project.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Not all Mormoms need to serve a mission but many of our members can choose to do so. Men (age 18 upwards), women (from age 19) and married couples become missionaries of our church and are sent to many parts of the world to help, teach and represent what our beliefs are. We have numerous missions including Building Missions, Welfare Missions, Proselyting Missions to name but a few, thus relying on the many talents and former careers of our members. This in turn provides vital resources and service opportunities to members and non members worldwide. Show more Show less
