Hi I'm Wendy

I was born in Liverpool, England, but moved to Central Region in Scotland when I was about 6 years old. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the eldest of a family of four children. My mum is Spanish and my dad is English. I grew up speaking Spanish at home, because when my mum first came over after she married my dad, she did not speak English. I spent a lot of time in the sunshine of Spain as a child and adolescent, and have many fond memories of this time. I have my own small family now, which consists of my son Francis, who is 24 years old and my husband Carlo, who has an Italian dad. I work at the moment in the Social Care sector and work for an organisation called Scottish Autism. I have worked in this type of profession for over 13 years and still enjoy it a lot. We have a lovely dog called Harley, who we totally adore and I have had a love for animals since my childhood.

Why I am a Mormon

I have a Catholic background from my mum's side of the family and it was through my grandmother that I got to know the basics about Christianity. Since I can remember, I have always had a good feeling within me when my grandmother talked about Jesus. I also understood that Heavenly father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost were 3 separate personages, but worked as one. I also loved reading about the Old Testament prophets and the wonderful miracles they performed and their strong testimonies and faith in their Saviour Jesus and Heavenly Father. I did wonder why we did not have men like that then, little did I know that there were prophets back on the earth when I was a child. When I grew into my teen years, these things did not seem as important any more, as there seemed more interesting things to do with my time, but deep down within my heart, I still retained that knowledge. In my early twenties, I got into some difficulty and I could not see my way out of the situation I had gotten myself into. This was when I remembered my Heavenly Father, his love for me and also how much I had felt of his love as a child. I knelt and prayed and asked for his help, immediately I got a response and a feeling that I was doing the right thing. About 2-3 weeks later, two sister missionaries knocked on my door, and as I opened the door and heard them speak, I knew right away that they had been sent my way. I was baptised and have been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints since 1992. It is everything that I wished for since I was a child. I have a testimony that I know that my Heavenly father loves me, he is my God and He through his son Jesus Christ created this earth that I live on and all I see in the sky above and beyond. Jesus Christ is the son of God, he is our exemplar, saviour and redeemer. He was sacrificed for our sins, so that we would have a chance to make our way back to live with our Heavenly father eternally. I am indebted to Him for all.

How I live my faith

I am the president of the adult ladies organisation within the church I am a member of. I have two very wonderful ladies who work beside me as my councillors and an equally wonderful secretary. We are there to support, instruct, teach and maintain this organisation, so that the ladies that come every Sunday can feel the love of our Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ. We have teachers that teach a lesson every Sunday and also a great compassionate service leader, who keeps a close eye on those ladies who need extra support from us. As well as Sunday's, we also meet every 3 months on a Thursday evening for an activity. This gives the opportunity for all the ladies to meet together and get involved with one another and have some relaxed, fun time. Within this adult ladies organisation, the ladies are assigned other ladies to visit on a monthly basis. This also includes ladies that are not very active in the church and others that are not able to come to church, because of ill health or old age. The adult ladies organisation is very involved in service outside the church too. A lot of ladies are involved in fund raising for different charities, helping people who live in their neighbourhoods, and community work, like litter picking groups.

What is faith?

Wendy
I have Faith in my Saviour Jesus Christ. Even though I have never met him in his physical form on this earth, I know he is a real being, he is the Only Begotten Son of our Heavenly Father. Through the Gift of the Holy Ghost, I have felt the truth of these things. I have Faith that my Saviour Jesus Christ is with me through the good and bad times in my live, and will never leave me as long as I continue to have Faith and believe in him. Jesus Christ has said that we will gain Eternal Glory, Salvation and live with Him and our Heavenly Father forever in Peace if we have Faith and endure to the end. Show more Show less
