Hi I'm Moezhelle

I'm from the Philippines and moved to New Zealand with my family. I like diversity and learning from people.

About Me

I lived in the Philippines til I was 15 years old. I am very much familiar with the Mormon Church as my parents are members. They would bring me and my siblings to Church every Sunday since I was little. I met really good friends and older people who would teach us Gospel Principles. I strongly believe that the Gospel of Jesus Christ helped shape who I am today. My family and I moved to New Zealand. It was difficult because it meant we had to start again but it was refreshing at the same time! It was amazing for me- a 15 year old girl at that time, to see how the services and teachings are the same, it was just taught in a different language (English) and I'm surrounded by people from different backgrounds and cultures. The Church is a gospel of learning. I continued to attend Church, read my scriptures and pray. I felt that my faith continued to grow. I served as a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of in New Zealand Hamilton in 2013-2015. It helped me understand New Zealand cultures (Kiwi/ Maori/ Island) better and also gave me confidence to communicate with the people more and to serve them. My love for the people I served grew. I also learned that there's a whole lot of people out there that are friendly and loving. I didn't know strangers can be so accepting and can treat you as part of their family. It just motivated me to go out and meet new people, respect, and serve them. Meeting new people and expanding relationships was amazing to see.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are converts to the Church. They were Catholics before. I grew up in the Church and have seen how it really changes people and I have seen how the doctrines taught changed me as I follow and test it out for myself. I am a Mormon because this gospel teaches me everything I need to know to be a better person. This church helped me to have a knowledge about our importance here on earth and the reason why we are here. This Church is perfect, although the members are not, including me. I see many things I can change so I can progress and be more happy. I believe that we all want to be a better person, a better individual, an improved family member or something like that. This gospel helps me to be the person my Heavenly Father wants me to be. Like one of the songs when I was in Primary ,"I want to be like Jesus" too! I have read the Book of Mormon and I know that its true. At first, I didn't fully understand all of it but I continue to read and finish it from cover to cover. What kept me going was that it gave me peace everything I open and read the book each day. I read it again the second time. I prayed about it and all I get was the feeling of assurance that it is true. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has taught me how to communicate with my Father in Heaven and how I can get the answers for my prayers and questions in life. I know that prayer works. I know that the Book of Mormon is true. We have a living prophet today, named Thomas S. Monson. I know that only in this church wherein our family who we love so much can be sealed for eternity. I'm still young. I don't know all things. But this truth are still true and I don't deny it. There's more to this gospel than going to church. I invite you to learn it and find peace and feel the real happiness you can't find in others.

How I live my faith

I try to stick with the little but significant things of the Gospel. Reading the Scriptures, Praying to God, and going to Church. These three things are important in my life although the intensity of doing those things sometimes change because not every day is the same. There are times that I go through challenges (like everyone else) and my faith in God gets tested and tried. So I talk with my friends about it and also listen to what the Prophet and Apostles' advice. It is necessary that with faith, we receive our own personal revelation from God and make our own decision about it and not just take the advice of the people around us. I live my faith by also serving in my calling in the Church. In the Church, we get our own assignment to visit people and make sure they are doing well and also serve in different ways such as cleaning the Chapel, teaching Sunday School, giving a talk for the congregation, planning useful activities for the groups of people in the Church. I've had different callings in the Church and it gives a nice feeling when you do what you have been called to do. On the other hand, people who served me in different ways has blessed my life immensely.
